Grades...Multiple pre req fails. Need advice...PLEASE!

I don't know if the fact that you failed them will matter since you eventully did pass. I would think they only look at the final grade. If I were in the same situation, I would be more concerned that it took me so many attemps to pass. I would be worried I would have a hard time in NS once I did get in. I personally found Chemistry hard but thought Nutrition was pretty easy. But of course everyone's different. I SUCK at math and can barely add my way out of a paper bag! Also, they say that NS is totally different from anything else so maybe you'll be good at the critical thinking stuff and do well. Eiither way, good luck!

Not to be mean, but nursing school is hard. At my school, if you fail 2 nursing classes, you're out. Nursing school is not for everyone. It takes a LOT of hard work, dedication, and discipline. I never knew nursing school was so hard! There are plenty more science classes ahead of you such as pathophysiology and pharmacology and all your anatomys and microbiology as well! You need to look into other threads and see what time other students are having to see if you are still interested, and if you really believe you can do it, do it.

I was very concerned about that. Even though there were reasons behind the failures I feel like there will always be obstacles and if they stopped me from passing such "easy" courses, what will happen when the courses are way more difficult? I do love the field and feel I can go through it so I'll keep trying but I am very hard on myself and its been extremely discouraging. I just wanted some advice from others outside of myself. I understand what you mean. I really do appreciate honesty. I have finished all needed science courses (for the RN degree). I've taken both A&P's, microbiology, biochemistry, etc and I've done pretty well in them. I know I can pass difficult classes. I'm just really worried about these F's that I cant erase from my transcript. I feel like nursing schools wont see that I've done well in other classes and that i've redeemed myself. they'll see the many failed attempts and automatically reject my application.

Does anyone else have a story similar to mine? regardless how it ended I'd love to hear from you all.

I made a D in my first A&P class. I learned from my mistakes, got a different teacher, and did awesome the next time around and the rest of the classes. There is other people in my nursing class who also had problems in some prerequisite classes but still got into nursing school and also doing good. You also have some people who did awesome with their prerequisite's and not doing so hot in nursing school. Not everybody is going to be perfect in every class and not every person is going to be perfect in nursing school either. Having to retake those classes so many times may make it a little more difficult to get into some nursing programs but you'll find one who will take you and you'll most likely do awesome.

It depends on the school. The place I am at is so competitive to get in and its on a points system. 130 spots a year over 400 apply. So for me, lets say I got a D in A&P1, I retook it and got an A. They would average those grades out D = 1 point and an A = 4 points. 2.5 total points for A&P1.

It really depends on your school, some don't points at all like this and others look at the grades differently etc.
