ive been trying to search this site for recommendations of a good grad school but to no avail.. so im posting this thread. :D

these are my questions:

1. what grad school can you recommend?

2. how much will be the tuition fee?

3. requirements?

4. what are the pro's and con's of MSN? MAN?

any info you can give me will really help... thanks! :redbeathe:redbeathe:redbeathe

What are your plans to do with it? That should be your first question.

Can you be more specific as to what you want to do?

hello, anakat. i was thinking the same thing after finishing my BSN, and i kinda did some research on this during my free time. if you're currently working, i'd like to suggest for you to check out the MAN online program of the UPOU (University of the Philippines Open University) here. But if you prefer the traditional program you can check out UP Manila's program here. the fees aren't that expensive, so it's cool.

if in case i don't qualify for them (knock on wood, hehe) i'm considering enrolling MAN at our lady of fatima university, coz that's where i'm currently studying for my BSN. hope i helped, these are just my choices ok. :wink2:

1. what grad school can you recommend?

there are a lot of reputable MAN/MSN schools to chose from.. i chose my school based on the NLE passing rate.. i also did some research before i went to the school and personally inquire.. some of the schools that i considered were; UST (i mean common, already 400 years in the country..nursing is one of their honored courses), UERM (is the only few schools in the country whos offering MSN, aside from St. Luis in Baguio and St. Paul Tugegarao i think), Arellano (due to its location, since im from sta.mesa. but take note, they have 48 or 49 units unlike others that only have 39-42 units), Ateneo de Davao (yes, i would go as far as davao to have the best posible education. only prob is their tuition fee, way,way too expensive), i also considered St. Paul Manila, FEU, CEU and other low profiled colleges that offers MAN. but i ended up at Trinity University of Asia. not only they are consistent in topping the board exam, but they also have a great facility. actually, i still have some of the requirements/info from the schools that ive mentioned. if you want, i could send it to u.:saint:

2. how much will be the tuition fee?

at TUA (19k per sem. 12 units. less than 1k per unit, misc of 5k. not bad)

Ateneo (about 3k per unit but im not so sure though. so ul be needing about 30k or more i guess)

UST (i forgot to ask them but i guess it will be around 25k)

FEU (too expensive, with misc of 10k??? my jaw drop when they gave me the figure)

Arellano (almost same with TUA)

3. requirements?

TUA - ORIGINAL tor, photocopy birthcert, form that you have to fill out, 1x1 pic (3 pcs), and result of entrance exam. (dont worry, its only a piece of cake. there is an essay though but u wont have an brain hemorrhage after) entrance exam is worth php300-350?? cant remember it anymore.

UST and CEU - needs to have 2 recommendation letters from supervisor (chief nurse, nurse manager, etc) and from the dean where you graduated.

UERM - you must have atleast 6 months of hospital experience before they accept you. im not sure though if your an alumi.

4. what are the pro's and con's of MSN? MAN?

MAN - you have the option to chose between clinical instruction or admin. for clinical, you can become an academe. for admin, hosp gods (don, chief nurse, nurse unit manager, etc).

**TUA offers double major (clinical and admin), and you will only going to make only 1 thesis. cool!!!:chuckle

MSN - to be honest, i have limited info about MSN. all i know is that, it focuses on a more advanced nursing specialties (adult care, pedia, geria, etc).

***hope this will help you decide on which school and program will suite you. there are a lot of schools there that i forgot to mention.. (PLM, UP, PCHS, and PWU), they also offer great MAN program but i only have limited info about these schools..

I am batch 2008 and currently taking up my Masters Degree major in Medical Surgical Nursing. I enrolled in Cebu Normal University. I noticed that schools are only offering MN and MAN or MN and MSN. MAN and MSN are just the same thats what my friends told me.

Is it really the same?

i want to advance my clinical skills but also plans to teach in the academe but not in the near future.. thanks

Guys, Will a MAN degree help me land to a better opportunity in applying as staff in a tertiary hospital?

hi freemilo!

i have been seriously considering cebu normal univ for my master's degree. how much does it cost? and what are the requirements? i hope you could help me so that i can finalize my decision. thanks in advance!

First question before deciding on a school should be what do you plan to do with the degree?

Teaching, bedside nursing, or something else?
