  1. robocop, i tried to refer you to gambutrol. gambutrol, would you be kind enough to help out robocop? =) the board of midwifery is taking the necessary steps to regulate the nurse-midwives thorugh more requirements.=)
  2. i've also read about a PNA scholarship for those entering nursing, it's somewhere here posted. is that scholarship part of our fee? i do hope it is because it could be the only visible productive activity from our YEARLY fees.
  3. thanks ledzil! i might call up the school after i take some exams.
  4. two weeks ago i was able to register without any oath taking.
  5. over-all cost for a graduating student here (including tuition fee) is near 50 thousand pesos! goodness!
  6. hi ledzil! on what days did you take your masters? i heard that they offer it on saturdays.
  7. gambutrol: i still have to ask my dean about that. i didn't bother to ask her last time. i'd try talking to her. robocop: the school actually has a set of those forms already. i'd still be having a peek at it since i'd be finalizing my delivieries by next week. just try going to the information booth in prc. i'm from a province here in the visayas. deadline for filing is still on april 7.
  8. with the level of difficutly facing the economy of the Philippines, one could not really blame us if we accept the CI position offered by some schools. i too is currently employed as a CI although i have just passed the board exam. me and so many others across the country face the same dilemma- teaching inaequately. it has been so hard for me to teach with so little or even no experience at all. it's just a good thing that i came from a high standard school (a center of excellence) but then it's still so inadequate. i keep on compensating by studying so hard and reading as many references as i could. i think i'm even studying harder no compared when i was about take the board exam. i plan to quit this CI position within the year (my conscience is making me a nervous wreck). i wish to go on hospital duty since i now i could use my board rating. to those who are CI's too who are quite "inadequate", let's not compund the problem- let's make the most out of our position and try to teach the most that we possess.
  9. I'm about to take the midwifery examination this april. i heard that this would be the last exam wherein RN's could easily take the board exam as long as the deliveries are completed. the next examinations would have another set of requirements. i completed my deliveries at a hospital in our place and that's basically it. i also di not pay since i'm already tied-up with a school here.
  10. to all especially to zerrise and jahda: are there any improvements on the cases that you presented? any light? how were the medical exams and what happened?
  11. i'm having ambivalent feelings on whether i should really get a PNA card "cartolina" this year. could someone please share on where the funds are going? the fees are quite high and so many nurses are getting it but then no accounting or auditing is presented to the public. our local PNA here couldn't even present an accounting to us. it's really quite dismal. shees!
  12. since you're already an RN here in the Philippines, you could take the midwifery exam if you complete their alloted number of deliveries (75 i think), 5 sutures, and 5 ivf. After completeing such, go and file at the nearest PRC office. You may also take a peek at the prc website and be directed to the midwifery portal.
  13. aside from all the risks that nurses are presumed to face once assigned in far-flung areas, we must also look at the "risks" that the patients/ and or people living in those areas are going to face once unexperienced nurses go there to "serve". This is not to put down any good nurses wanting to provide the much needed care in the hinterlands but this is to make warry those nurses with below average skills. The government should also specify if these nurses are going to be sent there alone or as a group of unexperienced nurses? or are they going there with some experienced nurses to train them? where are they going to get those experienced nurses needed to train them? are there going to be doctors with them? It's people's lives we're dealing with and it's nothing to be played with.
  14. Hi esjay! hi rene3! to esjay: wow! thanks for the information! i hope i could go there this weekend to inquire personally but the data you gave me is really helpful. much thanks! to rene3: hi there! yes, i hope to use my continuing education to the betterment of the filipino's health care system. there's just so many to improve on and i hope to be an instrument for that cause.
  15. Hi jahda! yes being hep b+ could never be a gauge in one's true abiliies. I just wish that someday we'd have what we yearn for and be successful in our profession. I hope to hear from you soon!
