Here is a place that we could start discussing the next part of our journey in nursing school.

Has anyone read the book they suggested in our acceptance letters? I bought it off amazon and I am excited to read it!!!

FutureGaRN15, thanks for the information.

kjewel36, does your hospital hire someone without a CNA certification? I've heard some people mention that small hospitals and nursing homes have done this in the past and train people. The person working then takes the certification test while working. I've taken all the prerequisite courses at my tech school required for the CNA & PCT certification (working toward my healthcare science certification), but I have not finished the last nurse aid class. I dropped it this semester due to helping a family member after surgery, but thought about picking it up (in between this semester & summer) in a much shorter 6 weeks or so program. I'm taking Micro this summer & thinking about the nurse calculation class, so I really don't want to take the CNA training this summer. Would you suggest this prior to thinking about a job in the hospital?

My question posted too many times. I had to edit this post by typing something b/c I couldn't delete it....:whistling:

Halfadozen. I am taking micro at the Dunwoody Campus over the summer too.

Wellstar does not require CNA certification. However it would be almost impossible to get a job there without it or the first semester of nursing school completed. However, my unit is in need of help pretty bad you could definitely apply and I could tell my boss :):)

Obviously no promises ;) but it never hurts to try. Are you wanting a PRN position? What are you looking for?

kjewel36, yes, I'm only looking for a PRN position. I do understand about no guarantee. I really need to get into a CNA class after this semester. :)

Kjewel36.. I know you been working there for a while, but do you by chance know how much they start off paying CNAs? I've been a CNA for about 3-4 years.

CNAs get paid anywhere from

About 12-15 and hour. Depending on experience, and what type of job...like PRN makes more because there is no benefits like PTO and insurance

Okay.. Well that's good. I'm ready to apply whenever.. I'm going to summer school at Clarkston campus and I plan on being back up that way by the time the nursing program start. How can I apply? And my plan is to be PRN and try to work at least 2-3 days a week.

Bridge36 you will need to go on Wellstar.org and apply. Look for clinical care partner for 6north or 6south. I can recommend you for those :):)
