GPC Nursing Program - Fall 2015

U.S.A. Georgia

Hello All,

I see that there is not a current thread for GPC. I just received an acceptance letter yesterday and I am ecstatic! I have applied to the program twice before and was denied, so imagine my surprise when I opened my mailbox. Can't wait to get started.

I was wondering if anyone else has received any news.

Last weekend I received an acceptence letter to GPC Nursing for fall 2015. Can't wait to start.

This is so helpful! I just got accepted for Fall 2015. Looking forward to meeting everyone! I have a BA in English & I've been an attorney for 16 years (finishing my pre-reqs at Ga State this semester). Needless to say, math hasn't been my main focus throughout my career. Thank you for recommending the dosage calculations class. I will definitely take advantage of it. Does anybody know anything about LINK?

Welcome and Congrats!!! I too am leaving a career in law, law enforcement to be specific, to pursue my dream of being a nurse. I've been a police officer for going on 8 years and math has not been my main focus either. I have started refreshing myself on metric conversions, because a friend in the program told me that it will be used throughout and must be passed with 100%.

I am also in the 2nd semester at GPC and it is tough but very doable! As far as the book they recommend, I didn't buy it but if you struggle with tests I would recommend it. The girl that sits next to me knew the material very well but was struggling with the tests because she would read too much into the questions...she ordered the book and read it and her score on her next test went up almost a full letter grade! I would definitely recommend using the ATI books they give you, especially in 2nd semester...I use that and and a book called "Reasonings and Rationales: Medical Surgical Nursing" and have been able to get by without doing any of the textbook reading. Good luck everyone!

I've got a question.. Do we need to take a cpr class this summer? If we do, how long do the classes last?

Yes, just a day 4 hours class

I too just got accepted Wednesday of this week. I was so scared that I wasn't going to be and so it is a relief that I did. I am excited and I can't wait.

Hello! I am currently preparing to apply to nursing school. If you are comfortable sharing your GPA and TEAS for those of you who have been accepted I would really appreciate it! I feel that I am a bit below the level I should be at and am very nervous about applying. Thank you all!!

Hey Amelia :)!! It is very doable! I also don't do any text book reading, and there is a ton of it required, I mean for one lecture it can be 300 pages! I do well on my tests, though I know I could do better, but I like having a life lol

Though keep in mind a lot of people do read and still do poorly on the tests! They aren't like any test questions you've done before! You can know all there is to know about a topic but then that test question hits and you're sitting there dumbfounded, on how to answer it!

I took LINK and I'm not sure I would do it again? It was somewhat helpful but it's a lot of work for what you get out of it! I'd focus on the Math!

I had a 4.0 coming in and a 78 on my TEAS. I know several classmates who barely made the 3.2 gpa and 65 teas score cutoff and were still accepted!
