GPC acceptance letter please!!!!

Published

The wait is becoming a little to much to bear!!! The fall class of 2010 seemed like they started getting accetance letters in the beginning of March. I know they said wait til the end of April but why must we have to suffer, sshhhissshh!:confused::confused:

Wow, sreed71. Five schools. You did what you could from the start. I heard all good things about KSU's program. To me, it seems like someone who already has a degree has proven they have perseverance to finish their education and should be commended for that. I agree that a GPA does not make a nurse for sure!

Thanks, I am happy for you 3times a charm. You did say it took you 3 times to get accepted right?

Wow I just did not realize it would be this difficult to get into nursing school! So do you guys think it is a bad idea to retake the teas? I only applied to gpc because I only want the and I am older already have a degree from a long time ago and want to get this done as quickly as possible which is why I cannot keep re-applying! This is all so crazy I am so depressed right now! But I am truly happy for you guys that did get in!

I am with you mg100. I am older too and have a degree and can't compete with 3.8 GPA because I have too many hours. I did ask for a meeting with the advisor at GPC. to see what my chances are for spring. But at this point I am really annoyed. About retaking TEAS I dont think GPC even looked at that for fall. I think it was all about GPA. I would ask Mrs Creel at GPC. Because it does count against you if you retake. I think KSU only takes the highest score and they want at least in the 80's. And it doesn't count against you.

Sreed73 - exactly, I cannot being my older gpa up to that level clearly so does that mean we can just never go to nursing school? I would be better off if I had no degree at all! That is a good idea to speak to an advisor because you are a good candidate and they need to help you figure this out. But if we don't get in for fall we are basically submitting our applications with the same scores (teas and gpa) aside from what classes we take between now and then. Which is why I think I will not get in for fall or spring. Is gpc the only schoolthat has the associates degree for nursing?

mg100, Athens Tech, Chattahoochee Tech and Gwinnett Tech all have ADN programs. Not sure where you live, but AT is in Athens, CT is in Marietta, and GT is in Lawrenceville.

MG100 I don't I had heard that some people in our situtation don't get in. But there are other ways. Like LPN then bridge over to RN. Or going out of state. I keep hearing how alabama is not as diffcult to get into. But who really wants to move. Here is a link to LPN schools in GA. Its just all there deadlines have past for Fall. That is what is so vexing. http://sos.georgia.gov/acrobat/examboards/lpn/nursing_programs.pdf

Thanks mangopeach, I will use the passport photo I think it still looks like me. You are in your second semester now, right? If you do not mind can you give me an overview of the program, what to expect the first semester, study techniques, anything you may think I will find helpful:thankya::thankya::thankya:

I'm in my 1st semester. Its almost over. 4 more weeks and a few days off and we go right into 2nd semester. Yikes! If you start in Spring its accelerated so you go thru summer. Wish I had the summer off like you guys will but oh well. Anyhoo, I don't want to scare you guys but just prepare to work and study like crazy. Its doable but I'm not gonna lie, its tough. There is so much to do. If you are like me and have always procrastinated to do things, change that TODAY. Blink and you get so behind. So just be mindful that time management and staying on top of things will be crucial. I had to change that quickly. Now I have alarms going off all the time to keep me focused on what needs to be done.

I suggest getting this book. Nursing Fundamentals Reviews and Rationales. Its a fantastic study aid. It breaks down the really important things you need to know and it has NCLEX questions after each section with rationales for the answers. I never leave home without it.

A student made this page and I think his advice is on point.http://gpcstudent.com Check out the link The Main Thing. I think he does a good job of summing up the things you really need to stay focused on.

Thanks 3timesacharm. Was this your first time applying to gpc? Keep us posted on how things are going I know you must be so excited!

Sreed73 just so you know I heard from Renee she said my GE gpa was a 2.62 and told me if I replaced humanities 1301 and do well in my remaining sciences I would have a good shot at summer but that fall is probably out. So I thought this info would be helpful to you. I feel stupid for not being

more aware of how these other grades would affect me.

@3timesacharm! I also applied to the GPC program 3 times! My teas were not very high and my overall GPA was not too great. I have been to 3 different schools and have lots of hours, so I was so excited to get my acceptance letter! I am a mommy to a 2 year old son and I know it's going to be really hard, but SO worth it! Have you taken your cpr class? Or where are you going to take it? Do we just need to find somewhere that offers it? Look forward to meeting you, and CONGRATS to everyone who has been accepted and to the people who didn't, keep trying, if it's your dream, don't give up!!
