Anyone have experience as an RN with the VA PACT

I have a tentative offer with a local VA hospital as an RN for their patient aligned care team (PACT). I am in the process of getting boarded right now. I am wondering if anyone has worked in this position and if so do you like it? It is a Monday through Friday position with hours of 8:00am to 4:30pm. I have worked in an office setting before and wondered if you usually get out on time and is it comparable to a physician office outside of the VA system? Thank you.

I'm interested in this as well! I'm in exactly the same place as you - tentative offer as a Care Manager for a PACT team and in the process of being boarded. I currently work for a GI clinic with my time split between the office and endoscopy.

I'm on a PACT team - I think I answered a question on this in another thread. I do like it - and yes I generally get out on time. PACT teamlets work differently in different clinics, but there are general expectations. You do chronic disease management, visits with patients (BP/DM/ETC) and tons and tons of phone in and walk in triage.

It is similar to a regular physician office except that you have different resources to work with - you are somewhat limited by referrals you can make, etc, since most are made within the VA system. Patient population is great! (and no kid shots - woohoo!).

Ladies, can I ask if any of you have started your new jobs? I am in this same position an am interested in how you like your new job?

I have not started my position yet. My first day will be March 9th. It has been a long journey, but I am excited to start. I applied back in September and did not interview until mid December and received my tentative offer about 1 week later. I have done a lot of research on my own. I googled "VA PACT" and read a couple of articles about the history of PACT, how it started, and the statistics on how much is has improved the flow of seeing patients. I also found the PACT employee handbook online and have read that. Even though I have done plenty of research, I still do not know exactly what to expect as it seems each team and hospital runs their PACT team differently. I will try to update on how I like it after I start.

Thank you- I have also been given a tentative offer but and feeling a little overwhelmed by the hiring process.

Still waiting on my end. I interviewed back in December and was given a tentative offer in mid-January. The nurse manager stated that I would be hearing from HR to continue the process, but no word so far. It seems that they hired about 25 people for PACT expansion so that could be the cause of the delay. Will keep you posted...

The VA hiring process is very interesting. I feel completely overwheled by the number of emails I am getting from them about vetpro, secrurity screenings, physicals, ect. Did you all recieve a barage of emails within a 2 day period.....it seems like they want me to get my info to them asap.

I wish! I have had NO contact from HR. Very frustrating on a different level. No one can seem to give me any sort of timeframe after receiving the tentative offer.

Can I ask if anyone started yet ? How is the position?

Still in process. I don't realistically see myself starting before May at this point.

Have you started yet? Finally spoke with HR yesterday about doing my physical, fingerprinting, vetpro, etc. She said this part of the process may take up to 6 weeks.
