On Army board results for April and May? They apparently are combining and releasing the results at the same time. I applied for the Army Nurse Candidate Program and boarded on April 14th. The May boards started May 5th. Still no word, and my recruiter is getting harder to contact. I don't know, like I said earlier, I have lost a lot of interest. I still want it, but am apathetic at this point. Thanks everyone!

Thanks for the congrats! I am in the ANCP, so I don't leave until after my BSN is complete, which will be in August of 2010. So, right now, I am in the IRR.

Thanks for the info deemo21,

But now another question please. My recruiter told me that she put me in as a 66H just to make sure I was accepted into reserves. But I really want 66H8A since I have 24 years of critical care nursing background. Is it possible to change now that I have already been comm. as 1st Lt.? I e-mailed my recruiter but sometimes it takes awhile for her to answer. Not only that, but sometimes I get better info from this site. Oh, by the way, anyone out there going to OBC in Nov.? As of now I was told that only three people are assigned to that class?! If so, I'm sure that they will cancel it and change to Jan. Has anyone heard about a new phase one class before OBC? Things change so fast that it is hard to keep up!! Thanks to everyone and God bless on your journey!

Yes you can, what the 8A is, is a SI or skill identifier. What you will need to due is fill out the skill assessment sheet and have your unit turn it in to HRC. Once HRC has recieived it, it only takes a couple of weeks and you will have your 8A. Your recruiter did the right think since a straight 66H has a better chance of being picked up. Should be no problem getting your 8A. Do you know what unit you are going to yet? Good luck and welcome to the Army

Thank you so much jeckrn!

I am assigned to the 339th Combat Support Hospital in Coraopolis,PA. My first sched day to report is July 11th and I'm very nervous about what to expect and what to do initially. Also, thanks for telling me my recruiter did the right thing. I do trust her but I also know that she has a quota to fill so I just wanted to make sure. Do I get the skill assessment sheet once I'm at my unit? Once again, I have found some wonderfully helpful people on this site!!!! Many thanks to all who have or are serving !!

Congratulations on your commission and on having the guts to post the question... I'm a 66P (family nurse practitioner) Active Duty hopeful in the San Francisco Bay Area, my recruiter is WONDERFUL... and I'm still waiting for approval for rank (CPT), and I think, age waiver. I can't say that I've lost interest but it's very nerve-wracking. So I support everyone out there who is in the same boat... BTW I had initially thought of Reserves and was told the same thing about applying as a 66H rather than a specialty (so it's a national trend I guess :wink2:

I was a member of the 339th out of Erie until last year, moved on for career reasons only. Good group of people down there. Served overseas with the XO & Maj L.(from EMT section). You can talk with them about where the unit stands on the 5 year rotation. The first BTA(weekend) you will be meeting alot of new faces, in processing, paper work, and getting to know the unit. The XO and Maj L. will be able to help you with the skill sheet, do not know the link, or you can ask your recruiter. Who was your recruiter?

Hi there, I am member of 339. It is a very good group of ppl. I will not be there due to OBC but July is only 1 day drill. You won't do much. Someone can take you to clothing store. Also you can inprocess before the first day. The UA is swamped on drill weekends and does not like to do that. If u need his number email me.

Congrats

Thank you all so very much!!!!!

I went to clothing store in Oakdale (Linda is excellent) and found most of what I needed. I did inprocessing and all the paperwork back in April so I'm o.k. with that too. Good to get it out of the way! Talked to my recruiter and she verified 8A can be done at unit and she said she would help with the paperwork if necessary. Just reinforced my initial thought that she is looking out for me. Very much looking forward to next step in my career! And I have also heard many good things about the people and unit. Counting the days!! Once again, thank you all for your support and service!! I'm looking forward to broadening my nursing experiences and joining the military family!

Hi momofabmtcs,

Sorry to miss you in July but hopefully you can help me out for August. Please keep me posted on how OBC turns out. Right now trying to get back into shape--- lots of busy family matters that killed my workout sched for two months! At my age thats a year setback! Good luck at OBC and please keep in touch!!

Hi All,

Frustrated! Still waiting for my scroll to come back so I can get sworn in. It was, as I mentioned previously, redone as 1st Lt because of constructive credit that my recruiter hadn't accounted for prior to my being boarded. I am in school and loosing STRAP money every day; one month's worth so far or 1905.00. Ugh!

I wonder if there is any way to get some of it back. The recruiter handled my situation poorly from the start and could have had me boarded 2 months earlier.

All and all, I am just needing to sound off here I guess.

Well good news everybody. My scroll came back yesterday and I swear in next Tuesday that 26th. Wooo hoo! thanks for all of your kind words and advice.
