to my old faithful thermometer. This is my back up to my welchAllyn. I have had it for over 11 yrs. Button to turn it off and on broke.
Will have to look for a new one.

Just happened to me too. My back up ear thermometer just stopped working. No idea how old it is, because I inherited it, but it was pretty well loved. I ordered a new Braun and am still gettting used to it.

i was just looking in the catalogue yesterday. My trusty braun pro scan 4000 (the decider when my vera temp can't make up it's mind) is starting to show it's age - but it's discontinued - and i have about a dozen boxes of probe covers to get through. Anyone have the proscan 6000? Do the older probe covers work with it or did they re-design everything? They make a point to say it won't take an "unauthorized probe cover" in the specs.

You scared me.
I thought we were losing you!!!
I just got the Proscan 6000 and tried to use the probe covers from my old thermoscan pro-1 (which I believe came over on the mayflower) and it was a no go. Luckily I only had 2 boxes of covers left. Not sure if the 4000 would be any closer in design or not.

(which I believe came over on the mayflower) BWHAHAHH!! But this brings up a thought: is there any best practice about when to retire things like thermometers and wheelchairs? I mean, I buy new glucometers every other year, mostly because they're cheap and I dont' want to calibrate.
