This morning (my third-in-a-row, just-get-me-out-of-here, want-the-week-to-be-done morning), my manager pulled me aside when I finished report and said "I got a really nice letter from a patient about you." She took me to her office and showed me the letter this patient had written. He named me as the "best nurse" he had throughout his entire hospitalization, and he had had open heart surgery, so he had quite a few nurses
I'm in my first year as a new grad, started my job in August, and I had this patient during my second week off orientation. With all the confusion and uncertainty that comes with being a new grad, it's wonderful to get recognition for hard work and to know that I'm really making a difference for some of my patients :redbeathe

I don't think we get nearly enough "atta boy's," if any, so that was really nice of your mgr to share the note with you :).

Good for you! At my facility, compliments like that are written up in the bi-monthly newsletter that all employees get. It's nice that they recognize outstanding performance.
