Got an offer at a rehab, is this typical salary? What did you accept?

I passed my boards about a week ago. I interviewed at at an acute rehab and was made an offer within 2 hours of the interview. I just don't have more than 12 hours to think about it before they rescind the offer. It's full benefits, 401k, but the base is 28/hr. Is that typical for new grads? I'm reading some posts where offers were from 25-34 plus shift differentials and those posts were from 5-6 years ago. I'd hate to think I got hoodwinked just because I'm ignorant of what new grads are making now.

Any new grads mind sharing what they were offered, eventually accepted, and for which setting? Any experienced nurses want to throw in their 2 cents?

I am also in Fort Worth...$28/hourly is a very competitive pay rate for new grad RNs in the DFW area.

I worked at an acute rehab hospital in Fort Worth for six years and was offered $25/hourly as a new grad RN back in 2010. This was with 4 years of LVN experience.

You must realize that pay is dependent upon region. New grads in NYC, SF, and other high cost-of-living places are going to be offered more money than those of us in the South because more of their money is being spent just to live.

The going rate for new RNs in DFW area hospital systems is $23 to $26/hourly.

New grad here, I just interviewed at a sub-acute facility and was given an offer (I didn't take it). The salary is 35.50/hr, although I am located in NY so not sure how relevant/useful this is to your specific situation.

The original poster and I are both located in the same city in Texas. Comparing NY nursing salaries to TX salaries would be like comparing apples and oranges.

Location definitely matters because of cost of living. Here in the Bay Area the offers I have gotten the first one $32 second $33 and third $34. Funny how they increased.

I used a salary "cost of living converter" website since I live in Western New York. I'm just starting out as well, and my pay is the equivalent of getting paid $26 in Fort Worth. I'd be dancing on the ceiling if I got my equivalent of your $28.

You've probably heard the saying, "Florida is where you are paid in sunshine."

I am dancing on the ceiling! I really haven't been able to stop happy dancing since they emailed me the offer. Thank you all for your replies. Made me realize how fortunate I am. I had no idea what nurses were being paid so in the intereview when they asked me what my expected salary was and I said "Um..$20 an hour" I can see why I got the "really?" look! I am so glad they didn't pay my naive self what I asked for. I am so blessed.

It's still really interesting to see the variances across the country. Would be great if more folks from the DFW metroplex would pipe in, but no matter what I'm thrilled. Congratulations to all the new grads and your new positions :up:.
