Students Pre-Nursing

I PASSED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so excited. I did not feel comfortable with the reading comphrehension portion of the test. I found that to be very difficult because of all the distractions in the room, but I scored very high in that which surprised me. The math portion I aced wooohoooo! One less thing I have to worry about and I am one step closer to applying to my schools nursing program! Good luck to anyone who is waiting for their results, it was so nerve wrecking! I can only imagine how I will be when I am waiting for my letter of acceptance or denial for nursing school. That will come this Septermber! Time to have a party!

You will!!!!! The only tips I can think to give you is for the math be sure to refresh on decimals, percentages and fractions. If you have the NET study guide by ERI the math is exactly like whats in the book. Different problems of course but same exact type of problems. The reading comprehension is where I felt I had more difficulty with but I credit a lot of that to the environment. There was a girl on my left who was constantly asking questions throughout the entire testing time for the reading part and then the girl on my right was so fidgety that I was having a hard time concentrating, not to mention my nerves where all bound up LOL. I did better than I thought I did. One important tip I can give you with the reading comprehension though is to read the question first and then SKIM through the passages to find the answer. I believe that is what helped me the most. I know a lot who were reading the entire passages and they didnt finish the comprehension test. One girl told me she only got about half way through and she knew she failed it. I finished it with maybe a minute to spare. It wasnt horribly difficult, I have taken harder tests before. Good luck to you, and I will be looking for your "I PASSED" post on Saturday if you do get your results right then. I sure hope you do because the waiting is just awful LOL.
Let me know!

Thank you MecoInGa!!!! All I know is I am sooooo glad that is over with. I hate that so much rides on these types of test. I guess they do it for a reason though. Anyway, Thanks again for the "Way To Go" :)
Thanks for the tips, and yes, I do have the NET Study Guide.
For the college in which I plan to apply to, the NET is not a tie breaker. They just said you have to score a "minimum of 50 on both the Composite Reading and Overall Composite Math sections". (So, 50 on reading, 50 on math.) I'm not sure how that is computed....
About how many questions did you have?
I was told the reading section helps them to know that you have the ability to handle critical thinking, and the math section lets them know you have the ability to handle the dosage calculations, etc.

Nurse2be2007-Congrats on passing the NET and Thanks for the tips!
I am taking the NET this Saturday, I have been going over and over the ERI book, I have been reviewing the math and doing the best I can on the reading comprehension. I am pretty nervous, I have always been really bad at standardized tests, especially reading, but I really want to get into nursing school for the fall, so I am putting my all into and trying to keep a positive attitude! I am off to the library tonight, will miss American Idol, but I want to make sure I am prepared for this and I am comfortable with the questions.
I am really confident with the math, but I just have a hard time concentrating on the reading when it's all about types of grass and owls at night! LOL!
Good Luck to everyone! Relax and be confident! :)

I also received my NET scores and passed. However, I did way better in math on the NET than I did on the Compass, and way better in reading on the Compass than the NET. So what does that mean?
Anyway, it's all waiting til May now!
Good luck! cn2007rn

I dont remember how many questions there were, but there were like 6-8 different sections. The math was first, then the stress factors, testtaking skills, learning style, social interaction, reading rate and reading comprehension. I can say that in neither the reading nor math was there over 100 questions. There was over 50 though.
My college requires 50% in both sections with a composite percentage of 61% or higher. I would have to agree with you on what you were told about the critical thinking and the math. The math portion seems to focus on all the techniques used to solve dosage calculations, like solving for n. A lot of dosage calculations use the solving for n formula to find the correct doses.

I so know what you mean. You know when I took the practice test in the ERI book I got all of the comprehension questions correct on both practice test. Of course, I was at home in my comfort zone and very relaxed, not to mention it wasnt timed LOL. When I took the test, there was so much background noise that I was having a hard time concentrating. We had the written test and I heard that the ones given on the computer are easier. I did do a lot better than I thought I had done on the reading though. I thought I passed it but barely and when I opened up my results I was pleasantly surprised :). You can do it! If I can anyone can LOL. If I had to do it all over again I would bring earplugs for the reading part LOL. Good luck to you and do let us know how you do!
