Got my contract in the mail..bad timing

Published

So I haven't signed it or sent it back because I have some questions. .. But it does say I need to register with and start using the UDS place. . However, I was just diagnosed with probable Shingles tOday ( probable because I have all the pain but the rash hasn't popped out yet) he gave me percs for the pain. I did show him the contract. .. while he was quite stingy with the meds. . At least he gave them to me. I am in SO MUCH PAIN!!!!!

but.. I don't know If I have to have him send that in to the board or not. . Since I dont have a signed contract yet. Thoughts? ?

Please excuse typos...im using a POS loaner phone while mine is being repaired.

Thanks for the advice. No.. no stress at all here.. lol. On top of all of my self inflicted hell... Im having a lot of problems with my 14 year old daughter. But I never thought i'd get SHINGLES.. wth... How StuPID!!!! At least I dont have to worry about waiting to go back to WORK my non-existent job....:roflmao: oh boy.. i crack myself up!!

I was thinking of asking him for Lyrica.... Why not Lyrica?? Does Gabepentin really work? I've always thought meds for neuro pain were just b.s. placebo's. I have a muscular/neuro disorder called BFS (Benign fasiculation syndrome) which sucks, but it causes me to react strangely to some things .. like anesthesia.. i've woken up in the middle of every surgery and I get super twitchy off and on. That has me bit worried about this nerve pain. The percs worked nicely tonight.. finally a little relief. I also bought a topical cream called Zostrix which burns and itches but decreases the sensitivity at least. lol... after a while anyway.

I will have the doctor fax the monitor tomorrow.

In good news..... I got approved for state insurance and foodshare. Which means i am getting the scripts and doctor appts for free.. yay. Also means that I was finally able to make my first AODA counseling appointment for this week. Im happy about that. Bad news... my unemployment is STILL pending investigation. Why dont they just say NO already. They are going to anyway.. :grumpy:

You know... as crazy as it sounds... this horrible stressful situation that I have put myself in.. is honestly so much LESS stressful than I was feeling at work in the last year.. I was nearing a breakdown and I really think if I had not been stopped when i was... with what i was doing (not perc's).. things would have gone very badly!!! Trying to see a glimmer of a silver lining... and right now.. thats it :)

I only say no Lyrica because it's classified as a class 2 and they will test for it.

Hppy

Lyrica is considered potentially addictive--that's why monitoring programs discourage it.

However, you should remember that you can take any medications you need with a doctor's Rx--it's just that you can't work while taking potentially-impairing medications. Different states have different protocols, but a lot of them seem to use a list put out by a rehab facility in Atlanta that kind of pioneered addiction treatment specifically geared toward healthcare professionals; can't think of its name at the moment...

Anyway, definitely keep your counselor/monitor in the loop: many states now have prescription monitoring programs, which allow them to track any narcotics prescribed for you (if they have access, which they surely do). They can find out whether anyone has prescribed you narcotics without explicit permission from you, if you're in one of those states. So they will find out anyway--better that they hear it from you, even if you aren't technically required to inform them yet because you don't have a contract or whatever.

So my CT was negative. I started taking valtrex which actually makes me drowsy...love it. Tiny little rash spots are starting to form. Im in so much pain its ridiculous. I called my MD today and he doesn't feel comfortable giving me anymore than one (1) 5mg perc every 8 hours.

I mean ARE U *** KIDDING ME???!!!!! Im still a human being who deserves and HAS THE RIGHT to have my pain treated. So he told me to go to the ER. Thanks dude! !!! meanwhile i haven't been able to do anything except lay on my heating pad all day..everyday. I just want to not be 8/10 all day long!!

You may want to rent a TENS unit.My boyfriend had Shingles and then post herpetic neuralgia and I gave him a TENS unit since I had two.It helped him more than the Norco and he actually used it for one full year.He kept it hooked up during his shift and tuned on for a 20 min treatment every few hrs. You can also just buy one. My chiropractor sold me one for $ 89.00 and you may be able to buy one on line but get a good one! Read the directions carefully because you need to place the electrodes a certain way and follow the time limits, It's very effective for this type of pain!

Just FYI, you can buy a TENS unit on Amazon. Lots of different kinds to choose from but just a basic analog 2 lead is $20-25, same kind we used to sell thru my chiro employer yrs ago. Made a great Christmas gift for my MIL, lol.

I went to the ER Friday and got 2 mg IV dilaudid..which brought my pain down to a 5. I really could have used another..But oh well..even that much pain relief helped at the time. I also got valium 5 mg every 8 hrs for muscle spasms. The rash is in now. I spent all weekend in bed in so much pain. The meds I've been given really dont help much. Tho im out now. I have periods of lesser pain now..which is an improvement.

I'm wondering if anyone has had this..Will neurontin help now? Would the tens unit only be for once the rash is gone? I can barely touch the areas now much less have stimulation to them.

I've just sunk into such a depression.. I can't even apply for jobs because I couldn't sit through an interview. Still no descisiin on unemployment.
