Hey,

Is there anyone here that was admitted for fall 2009 at Gordon College?

I am looking at my admissions status for Gordon now and next to the "Decision" section it says, "Final acceptance." Does this mean that I am finally in? All of my transfer credit is showing up. Would someone please let me know what their admissions status indicated when they were accepted. Thanks so much. :wink2:

Yes, you are in.

Does anyone know where Gordon College nursing students complete their clinicals? Thanks.:wink2:

I believe Gordon has a variety of facilities where students can complete there clinicals. Some of the facilities include Grady, Southern regional, Henry Medical, Spalding Medical. You are able to request a facility and most of the time they try to place you close to your home.

Does anyone know when Gordon will start sending out acceptance letters for spring 2010?

I have already been accepted to Gordon but I started an OTA program instead at another school, does anyone know if I can still apply even if i'm not taking classes at Gordon???

you sure can...that's exactly what I did and I was accepted with no problems at all

Phrozenone,

How is the program going for you? Are you guys super busy? I can only imagine! How many days a week do you ['

'e to travel to Barnesville? I live in Lithonia and I am trying to see if I need to scrounge up some money to buy another car so that I don't put too many miles on my other one. Thanks.

Faithworks,

You have already been accepted to the nursing program for the Spring? I am still waiting on my acceptance letter to arrive from the school so that I can apply. Do you think they will just print an acceptance letter for me if I go down theer? I still have to fill out an application and take the TEAS. Time is running out!

You know what...it's soooo funny that you mentioned that you live in Lithonia because SO DO I!!! LOL . I gotta be honest, the program is rather rigorous and somewhat fast paced BUT from day one, they emphasized how much they are there to helps us all. One thing that really made me feel good after having the living daylights scared outta me at orientation was the fact that the instructors sent us emails congratulating us on makin it through orientation as well as the first week of classes LOL. I'm still trying to get myself organized and used to the whole nursing school concept but that's expected. I would be lying if I said we weren't busy because we are :coollook:. My commute is Mon-Thurs., but that will change here soon because starting this week we have clinical lab check offs on Fridays and starting in October we have clinicals......kinda nervous bout that. But yeah...so far...I have no complaints with the program per se, just busy...just like any other nursing program out there. Any other questions ya have...just let me know:up:

Wow! That is funny! How are you managing with the commute? I am just praying that I will get into nursing school and worry about the details later. I can only imagine how busy it is. So when Friday check offs come you will have to attend school five days a week? Do you know where your clinical site will be yet, or at least where you want to go for your clinicals? I am going up to the school on Monday to pick up my application and schedule my TEAS test. They finally got my info straight and after that I will be good to go. How many hours a night can you expect to be studying? I need to get my family prepared so that they don't think that I have abandoned them. I am nervous about the TEAS. I took the NET and scored an 85 composite (100% math and 70% Reading Comprehension) so I am hoping that they are kind of similar. I am going to spend the rest of the weekend brushing up my skills so that I can do well. Good luck with your studies. I hope that you will ace your first semester of nursing school. I know that I will have plenty of questions to ask, especially if I should be accepted, so I will definitely be in touch! Thanks so much! :wink2:

Small world huh? lol As far as the commute...I'm hanginin there, it's not as bad as I thought it would be after I found out how far some of my other classmates have to drive. The only part about it I hate is that I have to get up kinda early to get to class on time. Oh yeah...they are VERY STRICT on time...time is a major aspect of their program. If you aren't on time for class..then they rather you not come at all...which I can understand. When check off roll around this Fri., we are actually just assigned a time to come on campus to be checked off which is actually a good thing. Our first clinical site has'nt been told to us yet, but we are assigned according to where we live...which is another plus. They gave us a list of hospitals that are pretty much spread all over Atlanta. As far as studying....I'm STILL trying to figure that aspect out LOL. The way I see it, if you study a little bit every day after class then you should be ok. Don't worry about what your family will think of ya...they explain alllllll of that in orientation so WHEN you get accepted, try to make them come along with you to the friends and family portion of it. Think positive and claim it!!! That's what I did :wink2:

Hi phrozenone,

Thank you for the positive words of encouragement. I have heard that some people drive from Alabama to come to Gordon so I think that you are correct when you say that the commute is not that bad considering that fact. I am looking forward to getting started. It is good that the clinicals will be closer to home. Toward the end of the program you will pretty much be in clinicals most of the time right? Pacing yourself when studying is the best way not get overwhelmed. I think it is cool that Gordon offers a friends and family portion of orientation to explain what is expected of nursing students. That adds a nice touch. It is also good that they implement a strict time policy. It prepares you for the real world. That is key! :wink2: I am claiming my acceptance and WHEN I get in, I know that I will do well, because I am motivated and determined. I am excited and nervous at the same time. Did you buy your books from the bookstore on campus, or were you able to find the textbooks you needed on amazon.com or ebay etc? Do you need a PDA for the program? I know that some schools require you to have one. I am looking forward to a new challenge! Continued success in your program and happy studying! Have a great weekend!
