Gordon College Fall 2014 Hopefuls

U.S.A. Georgia

Published

I wanted to start a thread for anyone out there applying to Gordon College's Fall 2014 Nursing program.

I will be submitting my application soon and then the fun of waiting will begin! Good luck to everyone else that is applying!

Don't get too hung up on transfer vs current student status. Current students only get 2 points added on the worksheet. A bump, but not much of one. If you're competitive, you're competitive. Good luck!

Good to know, thanks! Do you happen to know the total breakdown of points and minimum # of points of people accepted in the past? Just curious.

I just received my invitation for the critical thinking assessment. I was surprised! Thought they didn't send those out til after the deadline. :)

I also received a letter about the critical thinking assessment. I am so nervous! Does anyone know what we can do to prepare?

I heard there's not really any way to study for it, but I think it can still be prepared for. A lot of people say it can't be, but that's total nonsense in my opinion. The questions are critical reasoning type questions - you can improve on these with a little practice. If you have ever taken a logic class you will know what I mean. There

Are questions involving number sequences, brain teaser type questions like if Mary is older than Jim and Jim is older than John, etc., or questions that ask you to form a conclusion based on a given statement. Similar to an IQ test. It's fairly easy to find similar questions online. I have never taken the test, but this is what I have been able to find out in my research. Hope it helps!

It's awesome you guys have already received your critical thinking test date! I haven't even turned my application in yet (I'm being a slacker!) I am making the trip today to hand it over. What date are you guys scheduled to take the test? I took the exam the last application period, I understand why people say there is no way to study for it, but Meeep is right, I would brush up on my critical thinking skills, there are plenty of practice tests online to help you. There are 40 questions and you have 40 minutes. The questions are very simple, and basically every answer is correct, you just have to be able to determine the MOST correct out of the choices.

I haven't signed up for it yet, but I think I will take mine during the morning session on the 18th.

Last time they didn't give us an option, just a date and time to be there, glad they're being a little more accommodating this go round. Good luck to you guys!

Yeah, there is a choice of 4 times spread over two days.

Hello everyone :) I turned my packet in last week. I would like to wish everyone good luck! I applied last Fall but due to most of my core was not complete, of course I did not get in. I am hoping this time will be different. They gave me the option to not retake the critical thinking exam, does anyone know the specifics about the scoring on that?

I'm not sure about the scoring, but I do know it plays a BIG part on your acceptance/denial. Based on previous threads, most people who score 75+ usually get in. I've still not received any information on my exam, but I didn't turn my packet in till last Monday, and the school was basically closed the remainder of the week, I'm hoping to get a test date soon!

Good luck to everyone on the Critical Thinking Assessment today and tomorrow!

Hey would you guys mind sharing what the group size is on your score sheet? I'm just trying to get a better idea of how many people took the exam. I tested at 3pm yesterday and my group size shows 59. There were only 30 students taking the exam with me though, I'm not sure if the 59 is the total that tested for the day or how they are figuring it.
