Good Nursing Shoes

I work 12+ hour shifts & on my feet for most of it. I was wondering what would be good shoes or insoles for me? My heels are on fire at the end of the day. They don't need to be a certain color, I just want my feet not to hurt after the long day. :(

Nikey shoxx are awesome for what you describe.

I swear by Alegria shoes...I've tried Shoxx, Dansko's and Nursemates and the Alegria's by far are the most comfortable (and I'm not a small person...)

I've learned it's too hard to make a general recommendation for shoes. I worked 6 years in healthcare and tried all the shoes people swear by, including certain athletic shoes, danskos, etc.etc. I finally went to a running store and got fitted for shoes. Turns out I had plantar fasciitis and the danskos were probably the worst thing I could have had on. Now, I've been wearing stabilization walker shoes made by Brooks for over a year and have no more pain. So my advice.... go to a good quality shoe store where they watch your gait and walking and make recommendations.

I agree! Go to a store that can recommend something that is good for YOU! If you don't have that type of money, try NIKE Free's! I love my Free's! Or if you have the money, Air Max's! They are amazing.

Timberland makes a very good nursing shoe that support the whole body.

Dansko----vegan shoes, the best shoes

Maybe a dumb question...

is there a chain store that analyses your needs? I can't think of anything near me that would do that. When I think of shoe store, I think of Foot Locker, etc. What am I looking for in a store that will properly analyze?

Around here (central OH) we have running stores such as road runner, fleet feet, and front runner that all evaluate your gait and foot anatomy and make the appropriate suggestions and some even fit you for custom insoles on the spot. Out of the ones I listed, road runner is nationwide sorta, but not sure about the others. I'd start with searching for something like "(insert your location) running store". Let me know if you have more questions on this. My first degree is in athletic training / sports medicine, so all of this biomechanics and kinesiology is second nature to me.
