Golden West College (GWC) ADN Fall 2023

Hey!  It might be a little early to start this, given that applications aren't open yet, but I noticed that the multi-criteria points system was updated in September 2022.  I thought I remembered being in better shape when I looked at the old points system in past semesters ? so I was curious to hear from anyone else who is planning to apply and see where we all stand.  

I haven't taken the TEAS yet, but not including my TEAS score I have 56 points so far, and I'll have a max of 81 depending on my score.  

Hi! I am a 1st semester nursing student at GWC. I just wanted to drop in and let you know that they increased the number of spots by almost double. This coming fall they are accepting 79 spots instead my cohort is 54 spots. I hope that helps. Let me know if you have any questions. That definitely gives you more chances to get in.

@violet_flower May I ask about your experience with GWC program ? How do you like it so far ? And how are the professors?

Do you mean like 79 spots for both fall and Spring cohorts? Or 79 spots per cohort? I know that starting this year, their application period is for both fall and Spring cohorts now instead of having two separate application periods.

I am really happy at GWC. My experience has been great so far. I truly believe all my professors I have so far want you to succeed and willing to help you if you need help. You definitely have to manage your time and schedule since nursing school is on a whole other level so professors won't hold your hand in that sense (I don't think any school would. You have to manage when to study and complete your assignments yourself etc) but if you ask for help they will help you. I am really glad I am at GWC and my cohort is the first class with the new curriculum compare to the other cohorts ahead of me. Now that I am in nursing school, I am really glad I chose an ADN program as well and for GWC how their new curriculum is set up, I am liking it.

Fall is 79 spots alone! I don't know if Spring would be the same but my professor said GWC recently got approved for 200 spots total for both fall and Spring so unsure if they will maximize the 200 spots. I do know for sure its 79 spots for fall 2023 and that is amazing news since its the first to have a big increase in cohort size....our cohort is 54. More chances for people to get in!

Congrats! Let me know if you have any specific questions and I can try to answer. One thing I do have to say if this is important to you but look at the NCLEX pass rate and GWC is rated very high.

hey! I just got an email from the nursing department letting me know I was identified as a candidate for the program and asking me to RSVP to an informational zoom meeting.

I actually got into a BSN program, so I don't plan on attending, but I was just curious if anyone else got this email/if it means you were accepted.

Oh my goodness! Notifications are going out already? I thought it would be at the end of the month. I'm hoping to get in! Do you mind sharing how many points you had? My points were low but I'm hoping to get in.

I had 81 points! and the email just said that I'm a candidate, so I'm not sure if final decisions have been made?

congrats! I got into SAC too but still haven't heard from GWC. What were your points?

did they email you through your personal or gwc email? and congrats! no doubt they offered you a spot with 81 pts ?

I had 84 points ! The email said I am the candidate for Fall 2023 too.

That's amazing! I had 68 pts... I know I'll get in but I'm just praying it's for fall 2023 and not Spring ! Did they email acceptance to your personal email?
