Golden West College Fall 2020

Hello!

I made this thread for those of us who will be applying to Golden West College's Fall 2020 nursing program. If you are applying, can you please share your experience as well as how many points you are applying with?

I will be applying with 83 points!

Does anyone know the previous semester points accepted? I'm irritated I didnt submit my proof of language and could have gotten two more points :- /

Well if you took the time and look at last semester’s (Spring 2020) thread, it shows someone with 76 points and above got admitted. For alternates that were accepted, they never really mentioned how many points they had. I think the deciding factor for alternates was around 76 points or so and below. Couple people said they had 76 points and were admitted while others with same points were alternates (with position number) and even alternate pool. Every cohort is different, so the applicant pool varies. You mentioned earlier that you’re applying with 85 points, you should technically be in the safe zone/admitted. You can see a pattern forming if you do the math. Considering looking at threads from the past several years, talking to admitted people about their points, and such. Good luck!

Hello! Just randomly going through this thread, I applied for last semester and was accepted off the alternate list. I had 73 points and was alternate #4 :)

Hi guys,

I’ve heard from friends that since all the nursing schools have been suspended, students cannot receive credits for this Spring 2020 so they will not accept new students in fall 2020. Schools haven’t send out any notifications in regards but I’m not very hopeful.

They updated the website that:

Fall 2020 Admission: Notification letters are currently on hold.

Spring 2021 Admission: Application filing period is postponed until further notice.

That is unfortunate. I hope it gets figured out. I know alot is going on right now with the governor, Dept of Consumer Affairs and the Board of Nursing with trying to approve clinical hrs to be simulation instead. This was the first school I applied to, the last one I applied to was Rio Hondo, and they already sent out their decisions on March 31st for a Summer start. Every school is different.

Has anyone heard anything further about the whole COVID situation at GWC? What are nursing students who are in the program right now doing for their classes?

It's been a month since GWC last updated their nursing website. Does anyone have any update on what they plan on doing? I tried leaving an email but I got back a generic response. I tried calling the nursing office to see if people are actually at work, but I didn't get a response.

I heard they’re fully online right now for 1-4 semester

they are focusing right now on the students they have right now enrolled. They are waiting for the board to make decisions, and that will take time.
