  1. Hi if anyone went to/currently going to either CSUF distance learning or CSULB for the RN-BSN program, how was it? What were your pros or cons? Which one would you pick? Any input would be valued! Thank you!
  2. I just got an email saying I was accepted, but I think I will commit to another school. Good luck everyone!
  3. yes!! Don't give up! Keep applying! Look at where your weakest points are and improve them if you can! I retook all my the science prerequisites to try to get all A's. I appreciate Golden West because they look at my retake grades. So does Long Beach CC. LBCC is also nice because they take people from varying GPA's and they also take into account how many times you applied into their program. So, if you keep applying, you will eventually get in. Cypress CC will also put anyone who qualifies on their waiting list, so eventually everyone gets in. It may take 2-4 years but they do end up accepting everyone. Good luck to you!
  4. Hello everyone! I just saw this news on the GWC Nursing’s website. We should be expecting letters soon! Fall 2020 Admission: Notification letters were mailed on 6/17/20. If you do not receive your letter by 6/24/20, please send an email to [email protected] to request a replacement letter. Spring 2021 Admission: Application filing period is postponed until further notice. We intend on accepting applications within the next two months. Application and filing dates will be posted soon.
  5. WOW!, congratulations! I hope to be in your shoes one day.
  6. Oooo do you have more up to date news then?
  7. Hey guys! Hope you’re all doing well. Has anyone heard anything further about the whole COVID situation at GWC? What are nursing students who are in the program right now doing for their classes?
  8. I can also support OP’s claims about there being a limited pharmacists jobs. I was a pharmacy technician at CVS just a couple years ago, and the pharmacists there said the same things— that there were too many new pharmacy schools leading to many new grads and not enough pharmacy jobs. Many pharmacists I have worked with were “floaters” meaning they did not report to the same store everyday. They only floated around part time and had been doing so for YEARS. Pharmacists who were full time were also being cut hours. According to the Employment Development Department of California, pharmacist jobs are only expected to increase 8.2% or 2,400 jobs. This is in contrast to expected job increase for nurses at 16.2% or 45,800 jobs.
  9. Thank you so much for your answers! I really appreciate it! Now that I have more insight on it, it actually seems more realistic and possible. Whereas before, I had very little info (only what I found off of Google) and it seemed like I would never be able to get there. I will think about it more as it comes closer. Thank you so much again!
  10. Hello all! I am not yet a nurse. Still awaiting acceptance letters to start my nursing journey. As of right now, I am mainly focused on getting my RN. However, I do have some thoughts about NP school, but I do not know much about it. I do not personally know any NP's or anyone who has gone through it so I had a couple questions. 1. Is going through NP school and working full-time as an RN possible? Is this what most people do? Or is it recommended to not work or work part time while in a program? 2. I have seen many online NP programs. Are these reputable? (Maybe I'm a little old fashioned and skeptical about online degrees?) Do you think it is better to attend an in person program or an online program? 3. Is it difficult to get into an NP program? What do they typically look for? GPA, extracurriculars, experience? 4. Do people usually go to NP school right after getting their BSN? Or do they work and get experience first? NP school seems so far away right now, but I thought I would ask anyways. Anything and everything would help! Thank you all so much ?
  11. Hey everyone! I applied with 89 points if GWC agrees with how I added up points. I took my science prerequisites at GWC, and I really like the campus and the school so fingers crossed! Good luck to everyone as well! ?
  12. Yes! I still haven’t heard anything either. Got an email from Marc saying that there’s no such thing as a tier one alternate like Sigrid said in the meeting. I personally don’t feel like paying a ton of money for a “maybe.” I’ll try again next time! I’m applying to Golden West College today and I’ll reapply to LBCC.
  13. Haven’t heard anything at all about alternates. Was hoping to hear something when we took the TEAS but I guess we just have to wait.?‍♀️
  14. Thanks for the reply and answer! ? Did you give them a call and this is how you found out? And no I have not taken the TEAS yet. Do you know if as alternates, would we take it at the same time as the accepted students? Thanks!
