Hey everyone,
I just wanted to start a thread for everyone applying to GWC this month so we can answer each other's questions, share our points, and check status' if we wind up on the alternate list.
Good luck everyone!!
Hello All,Just talked to them and they said they are picking people from the alternate list based on HIGHEST total points!! She also said more people from the spring semester will drop (and more people from the alternate list will be picked) because students don't want to wait that long and usually go to another program that starts sooner.
I would greatly appreciate it if everyone can PLEASE list their point break down. I want to see where I would need improvement in case I didn't get into the program as an alternate. This is my point breakdown:
GPA 3.3-----------20 points
TEAS 85%---------25 points
AA Degree---------5 points
Patient care experience (over 200 hours)---10 points
Life experiences (everyone gets this-----4 points
Total-----------------------------------------64 points
Thanks in advance
Hi MaleNurse
Keep gathering up work hours - ft you should have >1000 IF you need to wait (excuse me for not being up to speed on your current situation )
And if it will count try to redo a class to get your GPA >3.6
A friend of mine who graduates GWC program this month said that over half her class were alternates.
I think they will be acting fast. Students need to start getting ready with things like vaccinations, which take a few months. Those need to be done quickly before they can even start the program. They'll probably start calling people next Wednesday if they have drops for fall yet.
For those of you waiting to hear from CSUs, when will you know by?
Hang in there! You never know. Someone might decide not to go and the spot might go to you. I'm on the wait list for CSULA, LB and Fullerton. And I haven't heard the final decision from any of the schools so I can imagine a lot of people might end up getting into these schools and decline GWC offer. But we won't find out until June.
Do you know what day in June??
Does anyone know if they'll call the alternates by phone or through letter/mail? And do you think they'll call after May 16? Trying to anticipate a day/week where they'll call so that I won't miss their call. Thanks!
A couple years ago they called alternates all the way up until July to start in August.
I emailed A.B. to confirm my spot and asked her some questions about the pre-enrollment requirements. For those who are not sure:
- You can get every immunizations or physical tests for the program at the school's Health Center.
- You need to complete Sociology, Statistic, Critical Thinking to get the ADN
- I'm not sure for those who get in Spring, but she told me that I will get to meet with a Nursing counselor during the Fall semester to lock in Nursing Student Educational Plan

I can't remember exactly my breakdown but this is my stats:
Science GPA 4.0
BS GPA 3.3
Teas 93% Score, 99th percentile
Bachelor's Degree
Volunteering experience: over 200 hours
I think I ended up with a 95 points.
I already accepted GWC offer but there's a chance I might not go in the end. I am on the wait list for 3 CSU's, if I get accepted at any of them, I will withdraw my acceptance. So best of luck to us all
