Gloucester County College Nursing Fall 2011 Hopefuls?

Published

Hi everyone!

Thought I could start this thread for anyone that is applying to the GCC Nursing Program this spring? I'm just getting my portfolio organized and prepared. I have to take the HESI one more time on Feb 24th and attend an info session on Feb 28th and I'm all set. I'm so nervous! But, I'm going to try to be optimistic. I look forward to hearing from you guys :) Take Care~

yeah, definitely excited to start school, but also worried about the work load ahead. I think we just need to have confidence in our abilities. We were chosen out of a pool of I heard 1200 applicants. They would not have chosen us if we don't have what it takes to succeed. Good luck everyone and hang in there!

So I was looking at the LPN to RN packet just to see what the difference was and basically they have to do all of the same general ed coursework that we do, but only take Nursing 3, 4 and transition to practice. So I was wondering if after the first year of nursing school, we could take the LPN licensure test and get some experience over the summer full-time and then part time during the next school year. Is there any reason why we couldn't do this? I have tried to google this question but only got ads for LPN programs. If I must work during school, I would rather it be enriching to my education.

It looks like it requires completing an accredited course. I'm not sure the first two semesters would qualify...

Yeah I haven't been able to find anything even on the state's website. The only thing I found was answers to frequently asked questions. This is clearly not one of those questions. I think I will have to ask GCC to see if it is possible. They would likely know best. Thanks momtofore

My cpr card should arrive this week :)

dannipoint, I should hope so!

My cpr cards came in the mail and I will be able to drop my packet off at school on Monday :)

Yeah! It's about time! Geez, they were letting you sweat it out.

handed in my packet :)

I got my packet in today! :yeah:

How is everyone coming along? I just finished my online psych class for the summer. Worked so hard to get an A...... now all i have to finish is art class which ends july 14th...... has anyone started or began studying some stuff for nursing? I can't believe it's already july 1..... i wanted to accomplish so much stuff by now...... i'm so behind. I plan on studying AP and med term this month.

I'm only like a tenth of the way into the big nursing book, although Im halfway through Clinical Calculations and Ive done a bunch of NCLEX stuff. Ive followed a nurse a few times and I'm going to follow a tech soon. Ive also studied up on some pathophysiology because everyone says it's the hardest thing.

I feel behind too, because I planned to have a lot more done by now but all you can do is your best, right?

And Danni, I think the skills you show, like dedication, attitude, and focus are all more important than pre-studying and will take you farther.
