Gloucester County College Nursing Fall 2011 Hopefuls?

Published

Hi everyone!

Thought I could start this thread for anyone that is applying to the GCC Nursing Program this spring? I'm just getting my portfolio organized and prepared. I have to take the HESI one more time on Feb 24th and attend an info session on Feb 28th and I'm all set. I'm so nervous! But, I'm going to try to be optimistic. I look forward to hearing from you guys :) Take Care~

Hi Danny,

I agree with Sjerseygrle... I also have been working in the hospital for a while now, I don't think nursing is strictly based upon your skills, your passion for nursing will shine above anything else and you will be fine :) .. you still have to be able to communicate , be compassionate and patient. nursing requires you to be patient and understanding , something you don't get prepare for, it has to be in you .. I also agree that the nervous ones are the ones who end up doing better because they are humble and aware . YOU WILL BE FINE :)

Thanks glad

May I ask, what your job is at the hospital? CNA?

there are no CNA in the hospital. only techs.or pca ( same thing) that's what i do. CNA usually work in nursing homes.

So we have

plus our honorary member, Skeletor!

We're the Dirty Dozen! LOL. If the class size estimate is correct, we only have another 100 to meet! It boggles my mind that there could be that many!

When you all come over my house to meet each other, would you prefer a weekday or weekend evening? I'm thinking the week after school ends for this semester. Does that sound good to everyone? By then I'll be available any evening. We could even do it one afternoon if that's what everyone would rather.

Oh really? I remember looking through Kennedy Hospital and they had CNA job opportunities. I think they all go by different names though like patient care assistant, and nurse techs or whatever. But, basically the same thing :)

FYI: Amazon is having a sale on diagnostic penlights. 6 for $6.

Good morning!

Will we want 6? I love Amazon! If I order them I'm going to finally order the anatomy coloring book I've wanted, lol.

Oh, I see that they are disposable. In that case I think 6 would be good!

momtofore, we will probably need six since they are disposable and could get borrowed or lost easily. Oh and I have that anatomy coloring book your talking about. It's pretty neat. :)

Don't throw them away, even though they are inexpensive lol. One penlight will last you your entire nursing program, if you don't crush it in your cargo pocket; you will just need replacement batteries.:twocents:

OMG! My bf just sent me awesome info regarding assessments. If anyone wants me to email it to them let me know :)

Can you please email it to me..Thanks:)!!

Skeletor, the penlights are disposable.... i don't think we're able to put batteries in them.... lol
