Ghostly experiences??

Published

I was just wondering if anyone out there has had any "ghostly" experiences as a nurse? I have had several unexplainable things happen during my career but two really come to mind..

I took care of a beautiful little old lady when I was a fairly new nurse in a nursing home. This lady used to sit next to me at the nurses station nearly all night long when I worked nights. I would give her a pile of washcloths to fold which she would do then I would mess them up and she would do it again..we would "chat" and have a cup of tea...she was a darling. She always used to reach over and touch my hair and say "your hair is so pretty". I was charge the night she was dying and I spent quite a lot of time in her room with her keeping her comfortable since her "family" could not "handle" being there.. As I was listening to her lungs she passed. I stood there and of course got all teary..I swear I felt a hand touch my hair and I heard a sort of a woosh by my left ear..

The other was not so pleasant..this woman (also at the nursing home) was a mean and nasty person and she did not have dementia. She would scratch and try to bite and spit her pills all over and swear..I came on shift at 11p and saw her at 1130..I was at the nurses station charting probably an hour later when the CNAs did 12 pm rounds and all of a sudden I hear a loud scream from her room. Myself and the other RN on ran to the room and the woman was dead but she was grasping the side rails and she had a look of utter terror on her face..I still have chills when I think of what she looked like..there was no warning of her death..If there is a grim repaer, she looked like she saw him. The other nurse and I have been best friends since working together there and we still talk about that night..

I was just wondering of anyone else has ever experienced anything like this while nursing...?? Erin

dragonfly, didn't the black things scare you? I ask this because evil and demons are always referred to as dark; darkness. Angels, on the other hand are always referred to as bright; light. I think I would have been scared to death!

In a hospital's Intensive Care ward, patients always died in the same bed, on Sunday morning, at about 11am, regardless of their medical condition. This puzzled the doctors and some even thought it had something to do with the supernatural. No one could solve the mystery as to why the deaths occurred around 11 am on Sunday, so a worldwide team of experts was assembled to investigate the cause of the incidents. The next Sunday morning, a few minutes before 11am, all doctors and nurses nervously waited outside the ward to see for themselves what the terrible phenomenon was all about. Some were holding wooden crosses, prayer books and other holy objects to ward off the evil spirits. Just when the clock struck 11, Pookie Johnson, the part-time Sunday sweeper, entered the ward and unplugged the life support system so he could use the vacuum cleaner.

I couldn't resist posting this!

OMG!!! Yuou really had me going there for a minute!! :chuckle

About 10 years ago, my stepmother was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer. She was not a very warm, huggy person and there were lots of hard feelings between her, her kids and myself. I took care of her for six months until she went into the hospital. Even her own kids did not come to help until she was in the hospital. Anyway, while caring for her she and I mended fences and she truly appreciated what I was doing for her. Since she had lung cancer, she could not lie down. Sitting up would wear her out, so she would sit up in the bed and drape herself across the portable bedside table. There was no way to give her a good ole hug, so I would rub her back and then when leaving, I would say good bye to her at the end of her bed and squeeze her big toe. I know it may sound silly, but it was an easy way to show affection. After she died, I was staying with my father and helping straighten things up around their house. My dad slept on the couch and let me sleep in their bed. One night, I sat straight up in bed because I felt someone squeezing my toe!!!! Freaked me out!! But I also knew she was in a better place and remembered how I took care of her when no one else was around. Happened only once.

the dark is not bad. evil is not necessarily "black". as a matter of fact, i have seen a lot of evil things in bright costumes. i think you are scared of dark things because if you think about it we are taught this lesson by society. i don't believe it to be true. i think true evil can be what ever it wants.

Audreyfay,

:roll :chuckle :roll That's really funny. Did that really happen where you worked? Or was it just a funny tale?

About a month ago, I had a patient I became very fond of who was diagnosed with cancer and had extensive surgery. I cared for him pre-op, and told him I'd be praying for him.

When I saw him a few days post-op, after I'd been off a few days, I went in to his room to see him, and we chatted a little. I then told him I'd been praying for him, and he said how much he appreciated it, and as he spoke, I happened to glance over at his IV pump whose numbers of volume remaining were: 666.

I had to leave anyway, but got really spooked and ended up praying for the patient AND for myself-- frequently-- throughout the rest of the shift.

 Fran!! What an experience you had! Thank you for sharing those stories. Your NDE kind of reminded me of Betty Eade's in Embraced by the Light. You should read it. Louise

I would love to Louise. Where can I get it? Would our local library have it?

I would like to Louise. Where can I get it? Do you think the local library would have it? I do get books on tape for homebound people from the our library. I live in a major university city, and there are students here all the time.:zzzzz
