The term for putting the a loan on hold is deferment I believe.

I'm sorry to hear it - I too got left holding the bag for an old school bill that with collection costs, etc is through the roof. The reality of the situation is - you (and I as well) probably signed a piece of paper somewhere, a contract with the school holding you liable for that money - tuition, books, fees - which you must pay back even if you didn't finish the class. Most colleges have policies that you still owe them their tuition charges if you withdraw late into the semester or are dismissed.

If you're insistent on talking to someone about it, I'd go to the student affairs or a dean at the college and see what could be worked out.

yes it is but the total cost is 10,500

Yes it is a lot of money but you would be surprised at how much tuition is for some Vo Tec Schools and Tech Institutes.

I once checked out a Vet Tech school and I think tuition for an 18 month program was about $13,000. My husband looked into a Web Design course at a local Tech. Institute and it was $9,000.00 for a 10 month course.

I didn't even pay that much per credit for my BS.

I had a 8 month dental assistant course= 10,000

Plus I went to a University and wasted another couple grand!

No, I was thinking the same thing. I only spent approx. $5,000 for my RN degree.

i know its a lot but it dint matter if i was going to graduate and get a job to repay it back

Private school, maybe? Or maybe she had to take out extra loans to be able to afford to go to school full-time (didn't she say she has kids)?

$10K is a lot of money, but education pays for itself in the long run. :)

(sitting here trying to figure out how I'm going to afford to get back in school FT myself)

And this is the #1 reason I'm going through Community College for my ASN. Can't beat $75.00 a credit.
