I am 20 (turning 21 this Saturday, actually!) and am finally beginning my college journey. I've always had a huge heart for people, but never thought I would be able to succeed in any type of medical program simply because of how exclusive they are...how could I ever be good enough? But after having worked as a medical language specialist for 6 months, I know the medical field is where I was made to be. I am currently still getting everything sorted out with the admissions process and am planning to take most of my prereqs online so I can still keep my current job. However once the time to apply to nursing school rolls around, I will be MIA from the real world and submersed in my books! My eventual plan is to become a physician assistant (bold, I know!), but I have always admired the personability, obvious passion and abundance of compassion displayed by nurses and know that nursing would be a perfect foundation for a PA career - who knows, I may change my mind and fall in love with nursing! All of this to say, if there is anyone else planning on starting their prereqs this fall, I'd love to keep in contact with you throughout our journeys! I am a military spouse and things get pretty lonely - I don't get many opportunities to meet other people, so it would be great to have someone to have someone getting ready to board the same boat!
Great meeting you all! :)

Welcome theAFwife! Nursing is a great field to get into, there is so much you can do with it! I know that you would like to be a PA but have you considered being an NP? They do the many of same things that a PA does, in some states you are even able to work independntly from a physician, and it will be far simpler to transfer your nursing credits into the degree. Just something to think about if you haven't already. Either way good luck on your journey, we are all here for you!

Congrats on making the moves to go back to school! I am applying to a local community college here in pa for summer classes. I have been out of school for almost 7 years :arghh:but I am definitely excited to start back. I'm new to allnurses so I would love to have some new friends to talk to about our journeys to success !

Happy Birthday in advance! I wish I was so determined when I was 21! Almost 21 years and 3 kids later I am doing it so I guess that counts for something right? lol. Best of luck!

Hello Ms.Rachel. I am currently about to take the TEAS V (THE 2ND TIME) this november 25 for a BSN program. I want to get at least 80-90 range but I am so afraid. I have seen your responses about TEAS. Please help me out on the pointers on the science section. I feel like I am gonna lose my mind because I really want to get in. Ive studied my best, bought the ATI BOOKS, MCGRAW HILL, AND ANOTHER TEAS PRACTICE BOOK, AND THE ONLINE EXAMS. I feel like i will still do horrible and it freaks me out so bad... I also am heading to try to be a CRNA after nursing school. but i have to get in first. please email at [email protected] or you can message me on facebook, my name is Audrey Garcia J
