Hey everyone. I am a student nurse for the summer at a summer camp, and just received my first paycheck. It seems like they are significantly overpaying me each week from our initial agreement. On one hand, I feel like I should tell payroll because they are probably going to realize their mistake eventually and be disappointed that I wasn't up front about it when the first paycheck came. On the other hand, I'm thinking maybe God just wants me to have some extra fun this summer, and of course I could put the money to good use! What should i do?!
If there is a God, my guess is s/he/it would want you to follow those commandment thingys. Wasn't there one about stealing? And it is stealing, make no mistake I hope that is what the previous 7 pages have said. I will be so ashamed if there is even one RN that thinks it is OK to keep money you have not earned. I am too scared to look.
Absolutely tell them immediately. Nurses are held to a higher standard of behavior by the public in general, and this is certainly an ethics situation. If you can be dishonest about this, how can you trust yourself with patient care? Giving meds, some of which are narcotics? On and on. Think about why you even asked others about this. Hmmmm.

Honesty is the best policy. If you didn't earn it, it is not yours. Run to them and tell them NOW???
