it took me 2 tries, one thing I did was make sure the admittance people knew me. It actually helped me out a great deal. I say this because as letters were about to be sent out, I asked if they could just tell me if I got in or not. The lady at the desk was happy to do so. It turns out they misplaced my application. So I was never in the pool of people to be accepted or denied. She said she couldnt do anything for me so I went out into my car and got my receipt that they had in fact gotten my application. After I showed this to her she let me know that she was the person who actually said yes or no to peoples apps and so seeing the receipt we did another application in the office and I was admitted. I was admitted because I had the grades not because they screwed up by the way.
Do not fret! It has actually taken me 2 years to get accepted into a RN program. I am currently a LPN, Histotechnologist and certified medical transcriptionist. My persistance finally paid off. I was just accepted last month at LMU/ TN school and cannot wait to get started again. I do believe in the saying,' as one door closes another one opens'. The timing for me this go round was great. I have a 17 year old and a husband working out of the country. I was feeling that mom (myself) would never get a chance to be a nurse, but determination and never giving up made this possible. I wish you lots of luck and your time will come-- it always does.
Hello, I applied to 4 Schools in Massachusetts, I was pleasantly suprised to be Accepted into 2 of them. I choose University of Massachusetts in Boston and will begin in the Summer in the Accelerated BSN Program. I was Pretty shocked to get in, I did pretty well in my Pre-requisite classes but I have no Hospital experience whatsoever. I went back to school in my 30's and received my Bachelor's deree in Psychology. I have worked in Banking, Construction, etc. I had my first interview at Umass in Mid-March and it went Great, The interviewers seemed to like me very much, and called me the next day on the Phone saying I had been accepted. I only had about a 10% chance of getting in, so I was Shocked! The only real Medical experience I have is Helping My Father with his Ostomy care, Catheter Care, and other related Medical issues he has. I learn from the Nurses everytime he goes into the Hospital. The Interviewers seemed to like the way I look at Nursing and how it relates to me and my Father. I am a Male and just turned the Big 40 . I am making a Big change in my life by pursuing Nursing, I am Lucky to be in a Posistion where I don't have to worry about Tuition, Books, Etc. I am very nervous but excited as well. I hope you find your choice of Nursing school, and remember to never get down on yourself, things happen for a reason and the key is to keep pushing your way through and reaching your goals. Good Luck. billjeff1

Hi All,
I am a pre nursing student in California. I have finished all my prereqs and applied once in August 2008 and unfortunately did not get in.
I have applied to 2 schools so far in February 2009 and I am still waiting to here back. My question is: For those of you that have successfully got into nursing school how long did it take to get there? Any help would be appreciated :redbeathe
