Getting into nursing school as a freshman. . .

Published

So, I just wanted to know what nursing schools you can apply to as a senior in high school, and start your freshman year in college??

Specializes in Hospitalist Medicine.

You would be admitted as a pre-nursing student and would be required to complete all the pre-requisite courses in college first (usually 2 to 3 semesters to complete) and then you'd be eligible to apply for nursing school and be a nursing student.

Thank for replying back, but I know that Longwood University, you can actually get accepted in the school of Nursing as a freshman, so i was just wondering what other colleges/ Universities did the same thing.

Based on the last time I looked, University of Maryland has a 4 year nursing program. You are admitted as a freshman and will continue in the nursing program without having to reapply as long as you meet the grades requirement. I think there are other schools like this as well.

Then there are schools that will admit you as a pre-nursing student but that doesn't really mean much. You aren't guaranteed entrance into the program.

Carlow university, university of pittsburgh, duq.. They are all in pittsburgh pa, and you are directly selected in high school.

Here in Virginia Longwood, Old Dominion, and the University of Virginia all admit students directly from high school into the nursing program. Here at UVa, we start nursing classes in the first year and clinical courses in the second year.

Specializes in ICU.

Saint Louis University has a 4 year BSN as does the University of Missouri in Saint Louis and Kansas City.

Concordia university in Portland OR.
