Getting Frustrated w/ Classmates

If it is inconveniencing you, then you have to put a stop to it. Let them know that you don't have time to make copies, but if they want to take a look at them while you are there, they are welcome to do that, or they can copy them on their own at your convenience as long as they do it at the copier that is in the same building (if you are comfortable with that). I'm not one to worry too much over helping out others, even if they didn't do as much work as me, as long as I am doing well and am not being put out.

I agree with the post about the work behind these notes, thats how you learn. Those looking for easy outs usually do not make it anyway. I would only help those who help themselves. And don't forget, if your handing out something they use to study by, and its wrong, some may drag you down with them.

The other day I had all my notes nicely typed up and numbered and brought them to open lab while I was practicing. The other students saw them and started asking for copies. One even said I should post them for all of my classmates.

This is an acknowledgment of your skills and abilities, take it as the complement that it is. I had a pretty decent GPA going into nursing school from my prereqs, but had a terrible first semester in some areas. I wasn't lazy or not studying, just not going at it quite right. A fellow student I didn't even know that well came over to me, took me into her study group for a while (they were all in the same apartment complex), and taught me some different study skills that got me through. Helping someone else learn how to learn is a great thing.

If it becomes an imposition, feel free to say no. Wouldn't post it, your instructors may take issue with that: but helping others is what the best of us do. Good luck!

I would have to agree with the folks who said that they would not share the notes with just everyone. I have 3 other students at my school whom I trust and am trusted by to do anything for in a pinch. I would have no qualms about giving those three my copies.

I am however always the first one in my class to share information I have stumbled across that has helped me (Like an APA termpaper template). I figure that if it is public domain anyway, what does it hurt.

As a graduating BSN in May 2008, I think you also have to ask yourself the question "Do I really want to enable that person to be an RN to work on ME someday? If they are willing to cut corners now, what corner will they cut on a patient?" NOT EVERYONE IN NURSING SCHOOL SHOULD BECOME A NURSE! As much as it pains me to say that about people, it is nevertheless true.

Hi, everyone. I need your opinion.
In lab I take very detailed notes on how to do procedures since we have to demonstrate them back to our instructor at some point to pass the lab portion of the class.
The other day I had all my notes nicely typed up and numbered and brought them to open lab while I was practicing. The other students saw them and started asking for copies. One even said I should post them for all of my classmates.
I spend so much time preparing these notes, going over them to make sure they're in correct order, etc. I want to help everyone but I'm just getting burned out. (I lend out books, give out my typed notes for lecture when others ask...) How do I say "no" nicely or do I just let them copy??

I'd probably say I'd forward them to them over email. I wouldn't give them out to anyone. I wouldn't have a problem sharing though, they won't have the benefit of having typed them and learned them like you did, and you will do the same regardless. It won't affect your grade. Another solution is to just keep your notes in your folder or bag so they can't see them. In our class, many people forward things around via email to share.
