Can labor and delivery experience make you eligible to test for your CCRN? Thanks!

Is that, "Holy mackerel?" I'm asking just for the halibut.
LOL!!
I am so filing this away for future reference. Thanks.
Back to the topic at hand.
I work postpartum and the L&D nurses I know deal with very specific, self-limiting, kinds of critical care that would probably be best applied to L&D certification. As soon as the patient is stable enough, our L&D would be sending her to ICU or CCU. Before that time they'd probably summon the rapid response team for things like intubation and drips.
Wonder what this manager was thinking.
NP Here are a few more.

is it possible they meant L&D certified and accidentally said CCRN? Seems like a self answering question, I was cracking up tho with the pictures lol

I think some of the critical care folks may have egos which are LGA!!! Funny, but the indignation is a bit over the top. Sheesh it was just a question. Probably just a mistake. Could be, oh no, a stupid manager. BTW, some L&D patients are ill, do have co-morbidities, even have invasive monitoring. We do more than scream push and change peri-pads ya know. If you ever need one of us, a good L&D is priceless and literally can be a liversaver! Sorry, I guess I was a little insulted that the critical care folks thought so little of us OB nurses. I cetainly respect your knowledge and skills and would expect no less than the same from you in recognizing my own expertise. (Yes know this took the thread from Maine to Key West!)

i asked this question because the women and childrens nurse manager is the one that actually told me she thought you could get critical care cert with l&d. i thought it was odd so i had googled and found the same link scott gave me before posting this question. i asked here because i was surprised a women and children manager would be wrong. i thought maybe there was something i had missed......angels wear scrubs-glad you got a kick out of that...
just because they got the title doesn't mean they have a clue about anything outside of their own office door.....
