4560 Gerentology Fall 13

I'm in this course as well starting in Nov. Not really looking forward to it as just had a horrible time with HSP 2210 (World Health). It was a pain!!!! I have really enjoyed the nursing core classes up until now. Seems like they just want to overwork us for the measly 3 credits and push the APA style and yes, I have had some things marked wrong or not marked wrong for the APA. I hope we all get the nice TA:cat:

Has anyone got their book yet. I ordered it but it hasn't come yet. I heard we had to read Tuesdays with Maurie. I borrowed that and started reading it. It is an easy read so far.

Any words of advice from anyone who's already taken this course??

cincinursemary, this course is wonderful and one of the easiest. You have to read or view Tuesdays with Morrie and do a paper on it, then you have to interview an elderly adult, and each week have a paper due on it, then a final elderly adult paper where you incorporate all your papers into 1 which Is 90 points. I enjoyed the class but the TA was horrible!

cincinursemary, after this semester I have 3 classes left.......the 3 hardest! 4550, 4580, and 4600. Hope to be done in April! 15 classes in 14 months! I will be ready for a vacation by then! You are almost there also! You have worked hard!

Despite my griping about lengthy assignments etc., the time has been flying by while my class list is shrinking. I have a feeling when this is all over I will find myself...well...a little bored. I know, I can't believe I just sad that out loud! Gerontology, here we come!

Oh you poor thing, I took Global Health... it was horrendous. Had me in tears at times. Worst case of APAitis I've ever had. No matter how hard I worked (like 10 hours on an assignment)... wasn't good enough. This has got to be better.....

OK, so 4560 is up on blackboard and all I can say is OMG... I guess I'm out of practice for these nursing classes, but really?!!

So it looks like, read 2 chapters, 3 additional assigned readings, watch an hour video, do a DB and 2 replies, do a literature search, and write a 5 page paper, with at least 5 references.... this week. Sure, no problem. :bluecry1: I just want to cry.

They try to kill you the first 2 weeks. By far it is one of the easiest nursing classes I have taken. The book is an easy read. Good luck

I'm having a hard time keeping this QI paper to 5 pages. It seems impossible to cover everything they want in 5 pages. How's everyone else doing with it?
