Georgia State University, Fall 2011 Application

Published

I mailed my Fall 2011 GSU nursing application on Jan. 22. The application deadline is March 1st. As we wait, I invite all applicants, traditional or ACE, to post their program gpa and TEAS version V scores and keep others abreast when they receive an applicaton response. Here are mine:

Program GPA: 3.63

TEAS V: 86.0 (Date 1/15/2011)

Percentile Rank - National: 97

Percentile Rank - Program: 94

As we wait,....

So out of curiosity who's applying to mercer and Gsu? And If accepted to both which direction do u think u will go? I know only a little bit about the mercer program...

When do you think we should get a reply by?

Typically it takes a month for everyone to hear back.... So we should all hear back by early April!

From what I can tell from earlier threads, they begin sending out letters the 3rd week after the app deadline. Suffice it to say, I'll be stalking my mailbox like a crazy woman, beginning the week of the 14th. That should be fun.

I was happy to see that they have a status update in GoSolar so at least I know that I didn't somehow forget part of my app. I checked and rechecked dozens of times, so there was no way that anything was forgotten...but I'm crazy like that. :D Seeing that my app is complete and ready for review, according to the school, at least took care of that one little source of stress.

I don't normally wish my life away...but I sure wish that I could fast-forward about 3 weeks!!:lol2:

Everyone's gpa/teas scores are so high! Do they ever accept people with relatively low GPAs but good everything else?

Good Luck everyone!

Inyourhands:

I have absolutely no first-hand knowledge, but going off what I've read in previous threads, the first "wave" of letters that go out are for the 4.0 and 90+ TEAS apps. After that, acceptance letters are sent out according to a point system that I couldn't begin to tell you about. Perhaps someone else with more info will help us out here. :)

My program GPA and TEAS scores are both good, but I'm trying to figure out how concerned I should be that I'm currently taking so many prereqs...a&p 2, micro, micro lab, and cultural comm and diversity. I saw in a previous thread that someone was unable to get in because they were lacking adequate points due to taking so many prereqs (including a&p2 and micro). We'll see, I guess. The worst that can happen is that I'll have to finish up this semester and then shoot for spring 2011. The only problem with that is trying to figure out what classes I'll take next fall--after this semester, I have absolutely nothing left. I'll cross that bridge when I get to it. Well, hopefully I won't get to it.

When did you turn your app in?

Thanks for the reply Kel3! I turned it in last week, but I'm pretty worried about it myself. When did you turn yours in?

I hope that all of us get in this coming fall! lol, I don't have any classes but Econ to take left! >

So I was in the same boat as yall last semester when I got waitlisted...!I had nothing at all to tAke this semester so I decided to just work and save up money! And it's horrible bc I feel so lazy not being at school... But here is what I know about the points. Hope it helps!:: for pre-reqs the only ones they count for the points are your five sciences. So that's anatomy 1&2 Chem 1&2 and micro... An A counts as 2 points. And a B is 1point. Your gpa counts for points. I think a 4.0 is 10 points, a 3.9 is 9 pOints. And so on... The same goes for your teas. I believe u get a couple points for your essay, but I think they use all the other stuff such as comm service as a tiebreaker for points. This is all that I've heard about them! : )

@ Inyourhands: I just turned mine in last Thursday. 250-300?? *gulp* LOL I guess there wasn't much chance that it was just the few of us posting here on this board, though it would have been nice. :D

@ Gsu11: Which classes were you taking/had left when you were waitlisted? This is absolutely my biggest worry. Also, thanks so much for the info on the point system!!

I really just want for us all to receive our acceptance letters so that we can stop sweating it...but I'd settle for just knowing one way or the other, right now. Not knowing is no fun.

Maybe it'll be a little easier once spring break is over and I'm super busy with school again.

Yeah, probably not. :D

Kel3: the only science class I was taking that they count for points was Anatomy 2... other then that I was just finishing up some core classes. My gpa was a 3.64 and my teas was an 86.7. My gpa went up to a 3.7 this semester so Im just praying that helps! But basically I would not worry about the classes too much bc a lot of ppl that applied will still be taking them also. The two main things are just your TEAS and gpa. If they are above the average from last year, then you have a very very good chance of getting in. Don't worry!!

Thanks, Gsu11. :) I have fingers and toes crossed for all of us. Hopefully we'll all be in class together next fall...stressing over our first semester of nursing school. :D

yes! Its crazy that we have to stress so much about just getting in... I can't even imagaine how much stress we will have come fall : )
