Hi! I'm applying to Georgia State University's ACE Track for Spring 2016. Anyone else out there also applying? :)
Hi all! Just found this thread and I wanted to join. I applied for both traditional and ACE tracks for spring. Hoping for ACE of course! It looks like my stats are pretty average so I'm on pins and needles!
Program GPA: 3.72
Science GPA: 4.0
TEAS: 87
I haven't received any letters yet, my application went in at the very last minute because of a complication with a class, and my TEAS scores initially went to the wrong place (big oops!) so I'm sure mine will be one of the last reviewed. Congrats to hopefulrngsu and good luck to everyone!
@firefly22 It really depends on what classes you still have to take for the over all degree, besides the prerequisites. My friend who began the traditional program this semester is taking Pathophysiology, Concepts of Nursing Care (which is a minimester), and Cultural Diversity. She has taken pretty much all of her other classes in the other Areas that are not major specific, so she is only a part time student. Clinicals won't begin until the second semester for traditional students. Right now you can log on to Paws and just look at the Nursing classes that will be offered in the spring to get a better idea of the actual time and dates are.
I hope this answered your questions. If you have any more let me know! I'm constantly checking here for updates on acceptance emails.
Thank you Hildog! I have taken all of the prerequisites except for cultural diversity I believe so I will be in the same boat as your friend if I am accepted.
I am also constantly checking the thread to see if anyone has heard anything! Someone from the SNHP said if we haven't heard back by the 15th to call, but I am hoping for an earlier decision! They also said it may be dependent on when you turned in your application. I turned mine in on around the 15th of September but my second reference wasn't submitted until the day before the deadline so who knows.
@firefly22 Yeah, I bet they go off of when EVERYTHING was submitted and your application was complete, which is slightly annoying. I do have nursing friends that graduated from West Georgia and were in the part time nursing program and they gave me some good advice. They said that if you're only taking three or so classes at a time then hospitals will hire you as a Nurse Tech (I think this is the correct term) after your first year of nursing school. You get paid hourly and gain experience. They said that when they were looking for jobs they wished they had something like that on their resume. It's something to keep in mind if you're only going to school part time and need some extra cash or experience.
I'm hoping to hear something back TODAY! haha this waiting game is killing me, thanks for the info though. If someone doesn't hear back by the 15th where exactly do we call, the admission office?
I have been looking into becoming a tech while in school for experience and as a resume booster, but CNA programs are pricey. May just have to wait until after the first year like you said. Here is the email I received when I asked about email notification of acceptance:
Hello,
Thank you for your interest in Georgia State University Byrdine F. Lewis School of Nursing and Health Professions program.
All applicants will receive notification of acceptance or rejection.
Decision letters are generally sent out 4-6 weeks after the application deadline or after receiving your application.
If you have not received a letter by November 15th, then please contact the Nursing Department.
Sincerely,
Byrdine F. Lewis School of Nursing and Health Professions
Georgia State University
I know of a few more people who have recieved acceptance emails, and also a few people who were already rejected. I don't think they go by the date you submitted your application, necessarily, because my application was complete only 2 days before the deadline because of one of my recommenders. My guess is they accept people based of the points system, so they might just go down the list in waves. I have yet to get an actual letter in the mail, but it's only been 4 business days since I was accepted, so hopefully it'll be here soon so I can give you guys more information lol. Good luck to everyone!
