georgia southern university accelerated BSN Fall 2020 start

Published

Hey everybody!

I was just accepted to the Accelerated BSN program at Georgia Southern University! I thought I would start a tread to see if anybody else has applied / been accepted or knows any more information on the program. I am curious how many people are in each accelerated BSN cohort, if all courses are taken with the traditional BSN students, what the NCLEX pass rate is for the ABSN program, and what some reviews people have heard on the program are.

Please let me know if you know any more info than I do!

Thanks!

Hi! Congratulations on your acceptance! I was accepted yesterday as well. From what I was told in the interview, the NCLEX pass rate and retention rate for the ABSN program are both 100%. There are 32 students in each cohort and the classes are taken separately from the regular BSN students. Clinicals are taken in Savannah proper (not up to 100 miles out of Savannah like the website states). That’s about all I know so I’d also be interested to hear what reviews people have of the program!

Hey @ConcernedTiger

thanks for reaching out!! I had asked about a few of those questions too and got the same response. From what I’ve found out from other people it looks to be 2-3 days a week of classes and 2 days of lab and then 1 day of clinicals each week. I know it’s split into 7 week sessions so at the 7 week mark a couple of the classes change and I believe as the program goes we’ll end up doing more clinical days and less in class days.

Have you applied to other programs or do you think you’ll end up committing to the GSU program?

If anyone knows how long labs are, I'd love to know ?

Hi Everyone,

I was accepted into the ABSN program @ Georgia Southern for Fall 2020 and plan to attend. I am local to Savannah, so please let me know if you have any questions about the area. I believe labs are tentatively scheduled from 8 am- 4 pm two days per week (at least for the 1st 7 weeks).

I am also local to savannah! That is what I thought they said for labs during the interview, but when I emailed them to confirm they would not answer my question. Thank you! Are you currently studying at Georgia Southern?

Yes, I’m finishing the prerequisites this semester at GS (Micro and Patho).

Who do you have for patho and how is it? I am taking patho in the summer at GSU.

I have Dr. ************* for Patho and am really enjoying it. We meet once a week for 3 hours, and she keeps class interesting.

That is who I will have! Im glad to hear it is a good class. Have you taken the history/legislative class or will you be taking the exam? I had a transfer credit that covered the history parts but need to take legislative portion.

I just need to take the GA legislative exam...will try to knock that out soon. Still need to do my BLS certification, too.

I am also tentatively planning to take patho during the summer at GSU! Does anyone know if there is a cost breakdown or a list of nursing specific fees for the ABSN program listed anywhere? I have emailed them, but have not received a response. I'd like to calculate total tuition and fees before committing to the program!
