Can anyone tell me where and how to set up the preceptorship hours required by the board in Georgia?

I would suggest contacting Atrium Navicent Health (formerly Medical Center of Central Georgia) in Macon, Georgia, and ask to speak to someone in their education department. They precept nursing students from area colleges and have accepted Excelsior College students as well, based on availability. The hospital is located in Macon and is not too far from the BON office. Hopefully they can help you are point you in the right direction.

Were you able to find one? I just looked into excelsior and still trying to find if they are accredited in Georgia. Were you able to set up clinical experience?

They aren't accepting Georgia students at this time: https://www.excelsior.edu/admissions/requirements/nursing-requirements/associate-in-nursing-requirements/

Hello,
I recently took the NCLEX and passed. I am needing the preceptorship hours as well. I called Atrium and was told that they are no longer doing it. Does anyone have any information as to where else these hours can be completed?
Thank you!
I believe the GBON is the only one who approves locations, you will have to check with them for the most current information. Good luck!
yes, that is correct, but I have to find somewhere that will accommodate me, then I submit to GBON to get the approval. That's my issue right now, finding someone that will accommodate me. Thank you for your response. I may just have to get in touch with GBON and see what else can be done.

Ahhh, I understand. In the past they have just given students the names of facilities that were already approved.
I'll reach out to them and see if there is anything they can help me with. thank you!

Hi Bobbi,
I'm not sure if this would help, but you may want to reach out to a recruiter at the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). They have this Transition To Practice program for new RNs. I am not sure if they accept provisional/temporary licenses or not, but it certainly won't hurt to inquire. Another area of concern would be that this TTP program is a paid position and that may be an issue with the Georgia Board of Nursing. But again, you won't know until you ask. Good luck!
THANK YOU!
