If I recall correctly, this has to be coordinated through the GBON. Have you contacted them?

Were you ever able to get a preceptorship? I will be graduating soon and any information would be appreciated!

I have not been able to find a preceptorship. Some hospitals stopped offering a preceptorship program during Covid. What I am running into is the fact that I have no school affiliation since I have already graduated. The facilities do not want to hire me because I have no license. I have explained that if they will fill out the paperwork for me to do the hours, that the Board will issue a temporary license so that I can complete the hours. I feel like they think it is a lot of work for someone who may not decide to stay at their facility. My last 4 emails to the Board have not been answered. I do not want to discourage you, but no one at the school nor the Board will help. I knew when I started the program that the preceptorship would be required, I just had no idea that I would not be able to find a facility willing to offer the hours. The board has revoked my application because I have been unable to send in the preceptorship paperwork. I am back at square one. I have spoken to nurse managers at about 50 or so facilities. Same answer every time. If you are graduating soon, I would recommend calling facilities in your area to get a head start and please, if you find somewhere to do hours, please let me know. I am trying to get an answer from the Board about endorsement. I was told initially that I could test in another state and work 500 hours and then apply for licensure by endorsement in Georgia (by my advisor.) After I passed GA boards and was unable to find a preceptorship, I was told that the hours for endorsement would be 1800 by the Board. Since my application has been pulled, I would like to assume it will go back to 500 hours but I cannot get an answer. I wish you luck and will send up prayers for our sanity.

That is scary! I have 3 years in a surgery center and I read that those hours would count. I have tried emailing the board twice with no answer. I guess I will have to call. When they told you to go to a different state did they say which one? I don't have a permanent residence anywhere else so I didn't know how that worked. I have been trying to look into it though. My daughter lives in South Carolina so I thought about working there and getting my hours. We are in such a nursing shortage right now I don't understand why the state is being so hard. We will get on the job training no matter where we go so I don't see the need for all the extra hours. I will let you know if I find a preceptorship! I will be praying for you as well!
I had to move to SC and I was only planning on getting the 500 hours then move back to Georgia but ended up staying here in SC since it's closer to my family anyways. GA BON was no help at all, I guess they don't need nurses as bad as they say. SC was no issue at all. Been working as an RN for 2 years now.

That is just crazy to me. I have that as an option as well but I wish it didn't have to be. I really want to stay in Georgia. I know they say they review on a case by case so I am hoping that they will give me credit for what I have already done. Did you have to move to SC first and then apply or how did that work?
enfermera said:Yes I moved to SC first then I had to get my NCLEX results transferred to the SC BON. Then from there I was able to get my license. It was actually pretty fast once they got my results. I know, I wish I could've stayed in GA. Wish you luck.
OK so I will take my NCLEX and then the board makes their decision? I just feel like they do not make anything clear. It's crazy! I was told I would submit my application and then they would give me the OK to test. Is it after that they decide if I need more hours? How did they tell you? Did they email you and let you know what you had to do or how many more clinical hours you needed? I have tried emailing them multiple times and no response. I am going to have to take a day and call them I think. I think what is most frustrating is not knowing. If I do need more hours I wish I could get started on them now and not once I have completed everything! I have worked so hard though at this point if it means moving I guess I will.
