Anyone going to the meet and greet at gwinnett medical center?

They invited all applicants. one of my friend went there last year, she said that over 250 people were there for interview.

I'm so glad I didn't go then, I figured maybe that's what they were doing just inviting everyone that applied.

Aw man MAJOR bummer!!!

So do we just sit around and hope they choose us?

@ lilylyle I guess so. I hope we all get jobs!

I am so glad I didn't go then! I live 16+ hours and had asked them to work with me because I wouldn't be able to make the meet and greet due to my clinical schedule here. They sent me a short response that said I wouldn't even be considered if I didn't go, nothing else I could do (not even meet with HR). Due to their inflexibility and ultimatum I didn't make the trip. Now I'm so glad I stood my ground. What is up with GA? Is it like this everywhere in the state? Bad for new grads?? I am now interviewing for jobs in Athens, does anyone know what it is like there? (sorry for all the questions)

Georgia is not necessarily a bad place for new grads. Its hard for new grads to get positions at Atlanta hospitals because they usually want you to have a year or two of experience OR do their nurse residency program. Almost all my cohort is from the Atlanta area, but going to my school in Milledgeville (GCSU) most are having trouble finding jobs up there. Several of us have gotten jobs in the Macon area, no problem and one of us went to Athens. I've heard a lot of good things from people precepting at Athens Regional but I think St Mary's is a good hospital as well. I'm not too picky about my first job seeing as I have no experience, after you gain that the door is always open for better opprotunities in the future.

hi ahain0013 i was having a hard time even getting a nurse recruiter on the phone and a interview seemed near impossible in the atlanta area so i decided to venture further out with my apps. i was able to get an interview with st. mary's and northeast georgia medical center. i took the job with st. mary's i'm only in orientation right now so i can't tell you much other than they do hire new grads and so far it seems like a great place to work.

Thanks you all for answering my many questions. Can be frustrating, as you all know, to find a job when you've worked so hard for this moment :)

youcandoit- What floor are you working on? I had the most encouraging interview with a nurse recruiter at St. Mary's. She took me for a tour, and introduced me to the nursing director of the cardiology floor. They seemed impressed with the portfolio I brought and said they would be contacting me for further interviewing later this month. I'm crossing my fingers :)

Has anyone heard from Gwinnett?

Has anyone heard from Gwinnett?

nope...

Has anyone heard from ARMC or St. Marys in Athens? I've been trying to call and contact nurse recruiters and haven't been hearing back. Getting nervous. Has anyone else heard back from any of the hospitals in any other areas? Are they all just taking longer recruiting for new grads?
