  1. Hey Roni! I see your feeling mighty generous I thought you would just want to get the hell out of there like the rest of us did. You are too funny lol.
  2. hang in there ahain0013. my hiring process took exactly one month from start to finish at st. mary's. i had to interview with hr, interveiw with two different floor managers, then also do a peer interview, and was finally offered the position a month after i filled out my application. i know the wait is tough but in the meantime still show that you are still interested in the position. during my wait i sent out thank you emails to my hr rep and the two hiring managers that interviewed me. if you landed a interview then you definetely have there attention now is time to be persistant follow up with your hr contact letting her know you are still interested.
  3. hi ahain0013 i was having a hard time even getting a nurse recruiter on the phone and a interview seemed near impossible in the atlanta area so i decided to venture further out with my apps. i was able to get an interview with st. mary's and northeast georgia medical center. i took the job with st. mary's i'm only in orientation right now so i can't tell you much other than they do hire new grads and so far it seems like a great place to work.
  4. i agree lillylyle. i decided to go at the last minute and left feeling frustrated as well. i went through all the stations and made an effort to introduce myself to the managers and left resumes. with the large crowds though i couldn't figure out how to stand out.
  5. As you can see your are not alone. I am also a new grad and my commute is 36 miles one way. I started to apply to Atlanta hospitals back in October while I was still in school. After filling out at least 100 apps (could be more) I landed only one interview in the month of February. This job was outside of Atlanta and I feel truly blessed. My plan is to tough it out gain my experience and possilbly in the future apply again to hospitals close to home. As of right now my loyalty lies with the hospital that took a chance on me and gave me the opportunity.
  6. I also received an invite by email to this event. I just accepted a job offer so I will not be attending. Do you know if this event is only for people who applied for the August residency? I wanted to tell me friends about it that are still looking for work.
  7. Thank you for responding optimusRN. Well maybe I still have a shot since it doesn't start until the 21st. I was just wondering because my apps have been under consideration since early Jan. Did ever follow stat of your application or did you just recieve a call?
  8. Hi optimusRN, I don't have a answer to your question I instead have a question for you. I also applied to Emory's new grad residency program. One for periop and another for oncology the status on both apps say under consideration. Do you know if they are still interviewing for these positions?
  9. Thanks for responding hiddencatRN. Well the first nurse director was cordial but a bit under the weather. I still continued to be energetic and pleasant but I could tell she really wasnt feeling well. The second director was more energetic, we spoke longer, and she said certain things during our conversation that made me feel like she was really interested. After the interview she also said I would hear from them soon. So right now I'm really not sure what to make of it. In the mean time I plan on sending a thank you note and then proceed with my job hunt. Hopefully I will hear from them soon.
  10. Hi everyone, Yesterday I had my first interview as a new grad for a RN position. During my interview with HR the nurse recruiter went over benefits and pay. Following the interview I met with two different nurse directors for the two hiring floors. I was introduced to staff and given a tour of the floor from both directors. Is this a good sign? Is it standard for HR to go over benefits and pay with everyone before an actually job offer? Like I said this was my first nursing interview so just wondering how all this works. Thanks
  11. I took the Nclex this morning and the computer shut off with 75 questions. For these last couples of days I would go over meds, priority/delegation, and infection control big time. Good Luck
  12. The summer is easier in terms of the structure of the program. As I was saying in my other post if the program is set up the same then that means if you start in the summer then you will never have to take the harder classes (ie Adulth Health I, Adult Health II, and Adult Health III) during the summer term. Don't get me wrong it can still be done in the summer. The semester would be pretty intense where you would normally have four months in the semester instead all of the material is combined into two months. Which means a test like every week. Anyway congrats on your acceptance I know how hard it is to even get accepted I moved to Albany just to do the program so you should be very proud.
  13. Hi I am a Dec 2010 graduate of the Darton college nursing program. I think my GPA was around a 2.7 or 2.8ish and Hesi score was 81.92%. @Success88 I wonder why people told you Dartons nursing program was bad. In my opinion the program is straight forward. Unlike horror stories I read about on this website with teachers giving tricky test, and abusive clinical instructors Darton was nothing like that. The program is five semesters long. You go to lecture, clinicals, study, pass your test, pass the class, and then move on to the next semester. I'm glad you decided to try again especially for the summer because of the way the program is set up. If everything is still the same then if you start in the fall you might have to take the harder class (Adult health in the summer) which mean test every week! Good luck to you
  14. No can't really say that I have. I think for the most part people who get in are just happy to be in. You will probably get more of a response about what kind of GPA's people got in with on here due to it being more discrete sp?
  15. I think once they close out the Hesi testing then they will start to send out the acceptance letters for spring. It didn't take long for me to get it at all. I was in the same boat as you when if came to goofing off in school. Everything happens for a reason though. I'm convinced now that if I would have tried nursing back when I was 18 I would have probably flunked out. I was just not there mentally to pull this off.
