Georgia Highlands College Waiting Game!

U.S.A. Georgia

Published

Hopefully, we are getting close to hearing something. I wanted to start a new thread and see if anyone wanted to play the waiting game for fall ADN Program. We've been waiting since April 1st and it's about time we heard something.:anbd:

prern, just curious.....which class did you find to be the hardest?

prern ahsley, congrats on baby 3! I have three too. I still haven't bought any books yet and am going to take your advice. I think I'll wait on med-surg. It's super expensive and if I don't need it, I am not going to buy it.

hobo, I can't believe we have to drive to Windy Hill! That's going to be a traffic nightmare and if are classes are starting at 9am, we will be right in the middle of it.. Oh well, it's good to know. Thanks for the update.

Does anyone know what it means that the stethoscope should have both adult and pediatric diaphragm and bells?

The part of the stethoscope that actually goes on to the patient's chest is what they are talking about. The pediatric one is quite a bit smaller than the adult one. They want you to have a stethoscope that you can take those off and put the other one on. (Some stethoscopes are not equipped to interchange another one onto.)

So would a Littman Classic II SE be acceptable? Thanks for the help!

I just googled "Littmann Classic II SE" and only saw that it had the adult diaphragm/bell....maybe you are looking at a different website that does offer it with both???

Where ever you order it from, it should tell you that it has a pediatric/infant diaphragm/bell also. Unless it specifically tells you that, I would be leary.

I called stethoscope.com help line and they said the only littmann that has both adult and peds is the cardiology III which runs about $148, regularly $208.

I was told that about Windy Hill at my registration today. The only thing good about it is now we don't have to pay $75 a semester for a parking pass, and she also said we did our labs at Windy Hill anyway so we would be going out there some anyways. If I get in I live in Dallas and would be more then happy to carpool. I really wanted a littman master classic, but I guess I'll have to look at some other stethescopes now. all the other stuff I will order from HANS at orientation.

Hobo, did dr. Rees say anything to you about how many days a week the Marietta program is? I was wondering if it is 3 days Tues-Thur. like the Rome campus...If I am lucky enough to get in the program, I will be up for carpooling if anyone is interested?..Maybe we can work out a rotation of some sort. I know I am jumping ahead of myself but I am just thinking about which way is best for getting there, maybe Dallas Hwy to the loop and then out 41 to Windy Hill or I-75????

They don't have the schedule finalized yet because they are having to make space available in the building. Thats where the patient simulation lab is which is very neat.

Neat! Have you already been there?

I was told that Marietta was definitely 3 days, they just didn't know which 3 days. I am up for carpooling too(if I get in) as I live off Dallas hwy and Mars Hill Rd.
