Georgia Highlands College Waiting Game!

U.S.A. Georgia

Published

Hopefully, we are getting close to hearing something. I wanted to start a new thread and see if anyone wanted to play the waiting game for fall ADN Program. We've been waiting since April 1st and it's about time we heard something.:anbd:

Thanks tns... I wouldn't want to say that I committed mortgage fraud...J.k... I was thinking that I might say that I cut my commission to make a deal work b/c the builder was in a position where he couldn't be any more flexible with his price. That happened a couple of times..

You know....a chauffeur....the people who drive your car for you and carry all of your stuff.

O.k. you got me! I googled it, and it only pulled up limo drivers and stuff...I was completely puzzled.:imbar

tns, did you finish your scholarship application yet??

:yeah: funny...

That's why I said that I probably wouldn't have the money for one of those during school.

I received some of the books yesterday....the material seems very interesting. I just wonder which books/classes we will have 1st.

Oh, I meant to ask you all. Did anyone order the kits from HANS or did you order from the bookstore?

I'm glad you mentioned that. I need to look at that paper again and figure out what I'm going to do.

Also, since you have some of the textbooks already....do the books LOOK pleasing to read? What I mean by that is do they have lots of explanatory pictures and graphics? (I hate to try to read about this kind of stuff when there are just words....nothing else...just words.)

hey guys,

long time without a post from me ;). i was going to tell you, if you have the money i would invest in a littman, it is really very hard to hear on the cheap ones the kit comes with. especially since you take it with you to clinicals and real emergencies do happen. last year, my first day of clinicals somebody code blued :(. lots of times the machine for vitals would malfunction. its totally up to ya'll but it is very hard to hear.

i know ya'll are getting very excited, im happy for ya'll. im taking education classes at ksu and working on an early child degree for my bachelors in the mean time, its lots of fun. im also going to pop in the middle of my fall semester because im 6 1/2 months pregnant :). wish me luck lol.

i know you all are very busy but will you please keep your ears open for people applying for the spring track(and what theyre scores are), im starting to do the countdown until my app is due(sept 15th) and my nerves are already starting. id love to be in class with you all come next fall, but ill survive if i have to wait till the next fall. after all i will have a newborn, 4 year old, and 6 year old by next spring...no pressure :).

thanks

They upped the number of people from the wellstar program from 25 to 40, and also the classes are at the windy hill development center instead of southern poly. I got a rollie bag from target for $35, but it's pretty huge. it was in the electronics department.

hobo, are you serious about the windy hill development center? WOW!!! It's going to be one heck of a drive. Traffic is horrible there!

Melissa, I will look at some of the books in more detail and let you know.

Good luck prern ashley!!!! I will post on here if I hear anything.

Thanks PrernAshley! Good luck in your pregnancy...how exciting! Which of the books did you NOT use during the first semester that were on the required list?

Are you guys going to buy ALL of the books up front? I'm not sure which books will actually be used this first semester. I would really like to be able to buy the ones that we will use this fall and then the rest of the books I will buy before Spring semester starts.

melissa,

I really like the health assessment book. Theyre were pictures to aid with the different assessing you will be doing. Fundamentals is very broad, not horrible, but not great. I honestly never even looked in med-surg. I only used the med dictionary a few times. theyre will be medical terminology at the end of the first 3-4 test, then its actually in the last two test. They give you pages of terminology to print out off of webct though.

how funny, we posted at the same times. being ditzy i was like, "how did she respond so fast"...lol.

me and others just did not use med-surg. its like a combination of fundamentals and health assessment.

pharmacology is boring but VERY important. i actually did really well on that part of the test.

the small book about preparing for test is not needed at all.

any dictionary will work.

i also only brought the health assessment book to class, bc the days they lecture over that stuff they have you practice on a classmate.

mainly, print and bring EVERY lecture. lectures are odd. several teachers will teach on one day. each teacher makes theyre own test questions, and then they combine them.
