Georgia board of nursing

Published

I'm not sure why it's taking so long all of my documents have been submitted. I tracked my package sent march 25 and signed for on match 28. Endorsement fee of $75 cashed 4/3 and I received a deficiency letter missing 2 things on 4/13 everything was sent immediately same day yet STILL no update on website. The lady processing my account then comes back and said she's been waiting on my work verification which WASNT MENTIONED initially. So I sent that off next day and yet this still haven't received it. WHY ARE THE NOT RECEIVING THINGS THAT I HAVE TRACKED AND SHOW THEY HAVE RECEIVED?? 5/8 is their 25 business day limit.... My question is what if it exceeds this 25 day limit? What will happen then?

Specializes in Pediatrics/ vaccinations, wound care.

From experience, it can take months. I had an expunged misdemeanor and it took from DEC 2012-Apr 2013 to even sit for the test. With my own research, (no help from my instructors) I figured some things out. The nursing board only meats for a few days each month. Even numbered months are for RNs, odd for LPNs. On the site there used to be a link to one of the board members. I emailed and 2 days later, I was approved. Not sure if it was the email or it just took that long. Don't give up, but check the site.

It's has been 4 months and I DONT have any background records or anything, the lady told me they had everything they needed and now much check list is EXACTLY the same as it was a month ago! I contacted the governor and he can't help. This is just ridiculous this is my job on the line

I ended up calling everyday until my issue was resolved. Eventually you'll get lucky and someone will help. I ended up being put in contact with someone and all I had to do was email her all my documents and within 5 days my license was magically posted. I went through the process in September and was told they were "backed up and expect delays". Georgia is veryyyyyy slow with things. I would call everyday.

I have emailed the lady processing my application EVERYDAY and I don't know what else to say. I emailed her Friday and she said she has EVERYTHING and has to "revist my file" 5 business days later I still don't have an answer/response, or a license ..... When I call they said they can't help me because someone is working on it. I'm getting impatient. My friend went from Georgia to Alabama and her license transferred in 2 WEEKS

Sorry it's taking so long. We have a lot of Florida nurses come over at my job. I've heard of a 2-3 month wait. What state is your license from?

Georgia's BON is known to be difficult. If you go to the GA section you will see plenty of frustrated Nurses.

Florida!!

There has to be a way to complain on them to SOMEONE this is really crazy!

It's through the secretary of state's office so keep on them. When I got my license (granted I'm a Georgia resident) it only took a couple of weeks. The state tightened up security for all licenses, from driver's to professional, so they're all taking a LONG time even to renew. GA residents renewing professional licenses had to submit a valid photo ID, copy of your SS card, current license, just to renew. The first round of professional license renewals took months, so by the time it got to RNs and LPNs they had to streamline it otherwise people would be out of work or practicing without a license. Keep checking on them and don't give up!

I've tried calling this office three days in a row and the line goes straight to busy each time... Does anyone have a working phone number?!

It did that to me a lot I just kept redialing and it finally rang!

This thread had me very concerned when applying for my Georgia license. I just received my GA license today 10/10/14, it was delivered 10/6/14 to the board.

Tip, follow the instructions on the front page completely. Obtain all of your documentation required and submit with your application. It was very easy!

Good luck!
