Georgetown U. Accelerated BSN - Spring 2010

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hi Everyone,

I just submitted my application for Georgetown's Accelerated BSN starting Spring 2010 and I just wanted to open a post for anyone else that has applied as well.

Do any of you know anything about the average GPA of applicants accepted for an interview? I am going to apply for Fall 2010 and don't know how good (or bad) my chances are of getting in. I am trying to be realistic but I can't find any info on the traditional program that they offer. What are their prerequisites for admission into the traditional BSN program?

I met with one of the advisors and they say around 3.4-3.6 is considered very competitive. That being said it all depends on the pool of applicants.

A question for those of you who applied: I know the WHC scholarship covers 80% of the tuition, but what are your plans to pay the remaining balance and costs of living? It appears that the remaining 20% would be about $8,000 then there's rent, food, transportation, etc. That's a lot of money to finish coming up with. And DC is not an inexpensive place to live. I'm still considering it - just wondering how I would be able to afford it.

I am crossing that bridge when I comie to it! Seriously though I was planning on applying for financial aid and crossing my fingers...I live with my fiance and we are trying to set ourselves up so he can take on most of the bills but I will definately need some help.

On another note, has anyone received any emails regarding the scholarship? i though it was supposed to be released on the 8th. Then the date got changed on the site to "mid-Aug." We should also be hearing (or not) about interviews soon right?

I received the email today for the WHS program. It's due October 7th.

Has anyone received word on the interviews yet???

not yet....maybe this week?? Probably not though. Technically the deadline to have recommendations in was only this past Saturday.

Hey all!

I got an invite to interview... anyone else and if so what day are you picking??? My fingers are crossed and Im trying to keep my hopes down! Excited though!!

Me too! I think that I'll probably pick Saturday, Oct. 3 because I have class on Tuesdays and Thursday.

So I have a coupon for Virgin American Airlines---for any major city in the US. 2 for 1. I think its $60/ person or something. Need to book it by August 30. (I'm in California.)

I need to fly out for Sat Oct 3, anyone want to go with me and save some major money? PM or reply to this and let me know!

wheee!! i got an interview, too! i picked the first date and the second. this is super-good news to me, since i got REJECTED for admission by a two-year RN program last semester!! haha!! crossing my fingers... i still have to take ab psych and philosophy for the fall, argh...

OHHH darn! JustJane, I wish I saw your post last night! I am in California as well, and just booked my flight last night, but for Sept 22nd... dang, too bad! And im going on VirginAir... well since I am going on the 22nd I will let you know what the interview process is like. NERVOUS!

I also got an email for an interview!! For some odd reason I didn't get to choose any date for my interview. It's on Sept 17 and I already have an itinerary for that day! I'm so excited!!
