George Washington ABSN Fall 2016

Published

Hi all, I was looking around for a thread on George Washington University's accelerated BSN for Fall 2016 entry and I couldn't find one, so I thought I'd start this. I was accepted to the program a few weeks ago and put my deposit, and I wanted to find out if anyone else has heard back yet! I am pretty sure I will end up going to GW, but I haven't heard back from any other schools yet so I wanted to see if anyone else is in the same boat? I actually visited the campus a few days ago and the area is very nice. I'd love to hear from anyone going to or interested in GW! (Also if anyone knows about any good places to live in the Ashburn area, any tips are great as I'm from New Jersey and will need to be making the move for this one if I end up going).

Hi there!

First off, congrats on your acceptance! My application was sent for final review today, so hopefully I'll hear back fairly soon. GW is one of my top-choice programs, so I'm a little nervous!

Anyways, my family moved to Ashburn about 2 years ago from Pennsylvania, so I'm pretty familiar with the area and I absolutely love it! As far as where to live, if you'd like to have easier access to DC, I'd suggest the Reston or Herndon area because they're closest to the metro. If you don't care much about that, I would suggest staying closer to Ashburn/Leesburg because you're likely to find something cheaper. There a ton of apartment complexes around here, so just do some research and you're bound to find something. Let me know if I can be anymore help!

Thank you! Have you heard any news yet? I still haven't heard back from any of the other schools yet that I've applied to yet so I'm still very unsure of where I am going to end up. Where else have you applied?

Yes I found out I was accepted on Monday! I also applied to Shenandoah, Jefferson, Drexel, and VCU. I'm a bit bummed about GW's early decision/deposit deadline because I really wanted to hear back from other schools before committing (especially Drexel & VCU). GW is my top choice so I will likely accept the offer, although it would be nice to have other options. If all else fails and I change my mind, I guess I'll just have to lose the $500 deposit (cringe).

Where else have you applied?

Hello Marty and Brit!

Congrats on your admissions! I found out last week about my acceptance and have decided to put down the deposit similar to Brit - if I get in somewhere else I'm "only" out $500 - but worth it if I decide to go. As for housing, it's a little intimidating - and I spent 7 years in San Francisco - and expensive! Brit, your lucky to be living so close! I think that I am 60% going to GW but a lot depends on the washington squared program.

Do you guys know anything about GW's financial aid? Like if they distribute to us as if we are undergrad students or do we get nothing like most grad students?

Happy Holidays!

Congrats! I felt the same way as you, the $500 was a lot to give up but I really had no other choice. I've also applied to UMass Amherst, Massachusetts General Hospital, Marymount, and Rutgers (which is where I go now, and also doesn't send out decisions until the end of June so I'm really in a tough spot if I get in there and choose to go). It's stressful but really great to know we've gotten in to such a great program and have that option.

I just found out I was accepted as well! I was hoping to hear back from a few other schools just because of the cost, but I am pretty sure I will be going here! I was wondering if anyone else was applying for the W2 program?

Congrats to you both! I'm not sure how GW's financial aid works, but I will definitely be looking more into that within the next few weeks. I applied to the W2 program and have an interview on February 6th!

Congrats on your acceptance biddlece!

I will be interviewing for the W2 scholarship/program Feb 20th. I've never been to DC so I'm pretty stoked! I'm a Cali girl and most of the programs I applied to are on the East Coast so I'm really looking forward to experiencing something new geographically but also concerned about the cost of living in a new city and moving across the country! But, I think that unless I get into a cheap state program I will be going to GW just because of the caliber of the program. I have a feeling hey will offer a good financial aid packet because it is an "undergraduate" program - or at least that's what I tell myself!

Hi RoseSim,

Congrats on your acceptance. How was your W2 interview experience? Mine is scheduled for this Saturday (2/20). Just wondering what to expect. Did you get a good vibe from the staff/former GW students. I have yet to officially accept my GW offer, but it looks as though I may very well be one of your classmates this fall.

How did the W2 interview go? Overall experience? Impressions of the hospital?

I actually switched my interview date to this Saturday, 2/20. So I'm not sure yet!
