George Washington ABSN Fall 2014

U.S.A. Washington DC

Published

I just submitted my application to GWU for the ABSN program that will start in the Fall of 2014 and wanted to start a thread for it. Has anyone else applied recently? If so, has anyone heard early from admissions?

Good luck to you all!

After my GPA was calculated through NursingCAS, I was a little dissapointed to see that it had dropped... and pretty significantly. Has anyone else had this issue? If so, how low did your GPA drop?

I got an email yesterday saying that my application had been sent to the committee for final review. It seems like it's typically +/- 1 week from that point. I will post when I hear back.

I didn't have any issues with the Nursing CAS GPA... If you calculate it yourself and show them how you calculated it, I think they will check it for you. Kind of a pain :/

Thanks for the response! Best of luck to you in the selection process.

Did you call admissions to get that info?

No, it was an email.

Hello - I got my acceptance letter last week!! I am so excited!!!!! I am wondering if anyone has any plans on housing? The DC area is wicked expensive...I was just wondering about plans and/or best areas to live that are close to classes? I am moving from Portland, OR :)

wow! you guys have heard so quick!! yikes!! hope to hear back soon! congrats to all of you 8)

for those of you who were accepted into GWU, had you guys also applied to the Washington Squared Program? If so, have you heard back from the program as well? I'm just curious as to what the process will be after an admission from GWU has been recieved for the Washington Squared Program to play out.

Ugh I just called, and the guy told me it will probably be another three weeks. I'm in a pickle because GWU and JHU have slightly different requirements, so I have to sign up for classes for both, and PAY for both, with no guarantee of a refund for whichever I drop (taking second half of spring semester).

aww man- I feel ya. I am debating between JHU and GWU too and have only heard back from JHU. No way you can wait until the summer semester to finish?

Congrats on JHU! I have to take Anatomy and Physiology in the summer, so I can't wait until then unfortunately. I just moved back to the states so I've been limited in how quickly I can do prereqs - only online and no proctor required. So I've got two summer classes and two 8-week spring classes.

Thanks!

Regarding prereqs, the University of Rochester SON Fast Track program has been my lifesaver- University of Rochester School of Nursing

You can wait until April 1 to register for Spring. The classes are really flexible- I work full time and was able to knock out A&P 1/2 on the side no problem. GW and JHU don't require labs so this is a nice flexible option if you can swing the price.

I really hope we hear soon!

I received the email that my application was forwarded to the admissions committee last week, too. Thanks for updating about your call. I'm bummed to hear that it might be another three weeks, but I bet it won't take that long. Either way, for now, no news means we're still in the game (silver lining?)!
