What do you like or dislike about being a nursing student? :D

I don't like not getting paid! But I guess I am being paid in the long run...I get to be a nurse....

Everything else is cool.....

I love Nursing school!

I hate getting up at 4am so that I can get to clinical, 80 miles away by 6am!

Mainly I dislike this because I was still wrestling with my care plan at midnight. One semester we got our patient assignments the night before (aroung 6pm)and had to have all the information complete before 6am. I may be the slowest person alive, but those things always took me hours to complete! I had a patient one time in the LTC facility that had 15 diagnosis' and 20 meds! AAAAAH!

Other then that, I loved it!!!!!

Wow Gator, 80 miles away! Lucky for me my sites are closer, since I'm terrified of driving!

Oh, I lied, I also did not enjoy smelling all that food at 7am on a nervous stomach. And, pulling all my hair up away from my face and off my neck. It is the most unflattering way to wear my hair,(double chin and all!) AND post conference......it is more of a gripe session then anything else and I heard all kinds of things that did not pertain to the patient. (married 3 times, took drugs 100 years ago...you know the stuff!)

OK...now I'm done!

How many times a week did you make this drive?

I made the drive only 2 times a week, that was enough! Did I mention that the road was under constuction for about 50 miles of that journey....those big orange drums on both sides of the road....and no pavement markings! LOL I did it, glad it's over!

I hate--not getting paid..(with ya on that one julie), the horrific uniform I have to wear, but mostly, I hate how much TIME it takes from my life!!!! Put your life on hold!! And we also had to write out our meds (not anymore, thank bob) and you know what Gator? 36 MEDS!! AAAAHHHH!! And that was just one patient--at that point we were taking three total!!! Nightmare...:chuckle

Kelli, what are you talking about, you know that zippered top is the coolest...every day when I walk by the window display that they have it in I just can't wait til the day I have one of my very own....:p

You know, angelic, I may just have to bequeath mine right to you!!:roll Lord knows I won't be keeping it...:chuckle

I hate it when some members of staff treat you like you are thick, some staff i know expect you to do things that are beyond your abilities at the stage of training you are at and look at you funny when you say 'no'. They think you are an unwilling student and believe me news gets round the ward quickly. They expect you to do the duties they dont want to do.

I would have to say the staff at clinicals can make or break your day. The staff at the Psych unit we had clinicals at made food for our first day and welcomed us with open arms. They were a great bunch. I just finished last week with our Ortho rotation and the staff treated us like poop. :chuckle I don't ever think I will understand why some nurses will be so mean to students even though we are decreasing their workload!!?? Other than that I am enjoying it all.....only a week to go until summer semester is over!!!!!!
