  1. As one who just jumped from student to RN, I gotta say that being on this end of things is HARD!! Sometimes the students are great, and want to learn and are active and all you gotta do is bat clean up (and make sure everything got done and be a resource) but other times you have to rearrange your schedule to work around the student and accomodate them. (First and last time that will happen) Last day there were students on the floor, I was working primary (4 pts). Students had 2 of the pts. They were giving PO meds, each had 2 pts. They DIDN'T HAVE TIME TO DO AM CARE--THEY WERE GIVING MEDS.. WTF?!?! You are here for 5 hours!! Whatever...did it myself. Ultimately it's my azz on the line if things aren't done or are done incorrectly. Impossible to recognize this when you haven't stood there. My respect for all the nurses who are awesome with students has doubled!! I'm totally not sour on students, but enough like that could make anyone, don't you think?? I'll take a beer please, whatever's on tap. I'm a simple girl
  2. Well, I have eight freakin' days left and seriously, my biggest problem is the MAN that I'm married to. I love him, but could he get any less FREAKIN' supportive?? I swear he's threatened by the whole d**n thing!! Today FLIPPED out because I was supposed to be off Sat., but remembered I had a school thing to do from 8-12. Not even a whole day!! I'm thinking he better get over it, real quick....Geez he makes my head hurt.....:stone OK, I'm done. Oh yeah, and I hated Peds. Making little kids cry sucks.
  3. I got five...six if you count party lines but i only know about those because when I lived in a rural part of hawaii right out of high school (early/mid-nineties) they still had them there...LOL!! We were on the information dirt road..:roll
  4. That is so sweet, betts... OK so here's one that someone really used on me-- F**k me if I'm wrong, but is your name Susan? (Sorry about the potty mouth) I cracked up!!
  5. Don't feel bad.. I graduated in 1992!! The last time I took chem was in 10th grade, so as you can see I took both micro and A&P without having chem in the recent past... since I had taken a year (of chemistry) in high school I didn't have to retake it. I took both Micro & A&P in the same semester and got a B in both, so it's definitely possible...your counselor will advise against it, but if you feel like you're up to the challenge, go for it!! And the workload kinda gets you in gear for the program...it's pretty intense! But seriously, you can do it, go for it!!! I hope you don't have to wait too long..Feel free to ask anything, I hope I can answer for you..
  6. Hey Angelic-- Nice to meet you. I'm currently third semester in the program at VC. It's a really great program....Your classes should transfer, I graduated college the first time in '97, and mine all transferred. The wait may not be as long as you think...I applied to the program as soon as I finished micro & A&P (both in one semester ) and I only waited one or two semesters to get in. Do You have to do your CNA before you can even apply? They just started that--we were the last class that they started without us all being CNA's. Plus side to that is you start your clinicals in the hospital sooner than we did because you'll already know the basics... Anyway good luck to you...if you have any more questions feel free to ask, I'll try to answer....
