What are you doing to prepare for school?

Nursing Students General Students

Hello everyone! I will be starting a 2-year ADN program this month. I will be taking Fundamentals of Nursing (lecture, lab and clinical) and Pharmacology. I was wondering what everyone has been doing to get prepared for nursing school. Since I purchased my books and supplies (about a week ago) I have been reading and taking "book notes" and, as well, I have been making flash cards of all the key terms in the books. Is this a good idea? I wasn't really sure where to start, but my sister is a nurse and she said to start reading the books. I really wanted to get a jump start on everything but I hope I'm not going overboard. What do you think and what are you doing to prepare?:roll

SusanRN2004 - Does your kitchen sink shine?? :D

hi, i'm back at school now and it's going great. my son is moving back to college this week and i'm sad and happy at the same time. i know he wants to get back to the "college life"...lol.. and all the good food in that college town. not to mention the parties i'm sure !!

anyone else think "august" is going really fast??? or slow???

;)

It's kind of dragging for me but I know it's because I am excited to get started.

Kitty,

Well I tried that once...right now both kids are home from collage and their idea of cleaning their rooms is to take all the stuff and pile it on the kitchen counter!! My daughter said she would clean the kitchen...I have been waiting about 36 hours so far...

So right now the area around the sink has about 2 days worth of dishes...and 24 empty pop cans! My daughter moves back to school next week so I think it will be easier then. It's funny she was a clean nut with her own place!!

Have you been following the plan? I like the e-mails at 11PM telling me to go to bed!!

:chuckle That's one email that just gets deleted!!

My place is actually starting to look pretty good. I've decluttered the kitchen and bedroom. Just have the living room & bathroom to go. (small place) I'm kinda following my own plan, but her site does give me some ideas that I hadn't thought of before. It'll be interesting to see if this neatness lasts through the semester! .... Don't hold your breath!

Kitty

well, let's see:

1) fall cleaning (because i won't have time to really clean during the semester) :imbar

2) finishing up study guide questions for fall semester

3) working as many hours in both jobs (because once school starts, i won't be able to work that much)

4) sleep as much as possible

5) spend as much time as possible with husband & fur babies

6) prepare folders for classes

i guess that is everything! i am already exhausted! i need a few more weeks before school is back in session. school starts aug 28th, & that is too soon for me. i need more time!!!

Okay I feel bad that I am not cleaning or reviewing or something!! hehehe Actually I am dreading school starting back up. I have one year left for my associates degree and I really wanted to quit after I got my LPN (all the time off made me lazy) but my husband won't hear of it, he said my goal was to be an RN and he won't let me stop now.

It has been so nice having the summer off (my first one in 2 summers) that I don't know if I can get back into the swing of things.

Didn't have to buy books, borrowed them from a friend so that saved me some bucks. HAve some skills labs tomorrow and Thursday to review giving meds, trach suction and such so I guess that will have to be my review.

Good luck this fall everyone!!!

Hugs!

SARA
