I guess you could if you go to a regular bank or something, but as far as traditional student loans we were told we couldn't. My bf was also told the same thing at the university he attends.

I am also a stay at home mom of 4 lol and was wondering where you got your loan as I desperately need some assistance right now. Please let me know if you can. Thanks!I would try it anyway. I think the "rules" are different for student loans. I don't work - SAHM of 4 - and I didn't even put my husband or his income on my loan app. Just went under my name and SSN, and was approved on that and my school info.
Or talk to the Financial Aid counselors at your school. Truly, they are the experts. Good luck to you! I hope everything works out. It's terrible we need to think about money instead of just getting the education we so desperately want!

I have always worked and therefore make too much money for state or government assistance. I don't qualify for grants or even work study because I apparently made too much money last year. Well right now I have no job. I just finished a summer externship program and it ended this week so now I'm left without a job or money. I got enough student loans for my tuition but am still facing trying to find money for living expenses. I am single not married and without parental support. It's hard to find a jod at even Mcdonalds because my school schedule is so hectic that no one wants to hire me when I'm available. I have been turned down for even alternative loans because of poor credit and I don't know a credit worthy co-signer. My fin aid office is a joke and told me that my 3.5 GPA is not good enough for. They basically told me that they could not help me any further. I am at my wits end and I am just praying that I get this $5000 that I applied for at the hospital where I did my externship. Keep your fingers crossed for me. I have been dealing with this for 3 years now and this is my last year of school and I will find a way somehow, but if any one has any ideas I'd love to hear about it. Thanks
