Are these two classes part of your curriculim at your school? I have beed accepted into two ADN programs and at one of them, these classes are not required. This school also has a better reputation than the one that does require them. Maybe somehow these classes are covered within the Nursing courses?? Has anyone else come across this? Thank you!

Yes. A lot of schools incorporate topics such as pharmacology, nutrition, anatomy, physiology, etc. into their nursing course and don't have the students take those courses separately prior to beginning the nursing program. That way, they know every student received the same content ... and that the content was targeted for nurses. There is nothing wrong with that approach. Schools have done it that way forever. In fact, it is the traditional way to do it.
Either way is fine ... assuming you are going to a good school.
Good luck,

Nutrition was required in my ADN program. Wish pharmacology had been as well, since it is SO important.

Nutrition is a pre-req for the BSN program I'll be attending. Pharmacology is actually a nursing specific course, so you cannot take it until you're enrolled/accepted into the nursing program.

They are both required courses at the cc i go to. You have the option of taking them prior to the program or while you are in clinicals- but if you choose to take them while in clinicals its a double whammie because they are SEPERATE.

Nutrition is integrated into the curriculum where I go. And pharmacology was a seperate class. I know the community college I used to go to integrated both of these classes into the curriculum.

Depends on how it's structured. Do you mean required as a pre-requisite, required during the program itself, or both/neither? I believe both subjects are required in all programs, but as prior posters said they might be included in other courses or be prerequisites.

I've got to take Pharm, but Nutrition is built into the nursing core classes... or at least I hope it is!

Nursing is integrated into the core curriculum at my school, while pharm is a separate class. I've heard that the NCLEX has quite a few pharm questions on it.
