Ok, those still waiting or doing prereqs

Nursing Students General Students

How about we have a thread for us! Hahahaha, sorry needed some encouragement today and figured I wasn't alone. I am so excited for the ones starting nursing classes this week, but so jealous. I know it will be my turn soon enough. So how about a check-in to see who's still waiting. When do you hope to start nursing classes? How many prereqs do you have? Or are you just waiting?

Me I should start in August, pretty much waiting. I've had my prereqs done for a while now. I am taking my last general ed class this semester and getting it out of the way. They don't have any nursing classes in the summer so just waiting and getting ready.

I can't wait to start this spring semester and get it over with. I am taking A&P 1 and 2. And the books for these two class:an anatomy/physiology book, lab book, disk, and two other books cost about $350(talk about squeesing the piggy bank)!! I took nat and phys about seven years ago and squeezed a B out of it, the only difference with that class is that it was a whole semester and we had no lab. Talk about boring, huh? Just a lot of lecture. I took it twice because the first time it really blew my mind. The teacher was great it was just so much info.

Our net test is required before the end of May to be admitted for the Fall 2003 class. I am on pins and needles, because I am not exactly a young pup anymore(almost 30).:D

GOOD LUCK TO US ALL!!!

WHOA! A lot more people are WAITING rather than GRADUATING! I guess this is a GREAT thing so there won't such a nursing shorage. (always a good thing) :) Um, well, to answer this post, I am a senior in High School, and I will start/finish pre-req's this August (03). As Teresa said, I am SO jealous of ya'll already graduating, or even STARTING nursing school! But, as stated previously, my turn in coming and I can't wait! Good luck to all who are awaiting letters. I at least can understand that! :D

Pookie

Well I have only taken 4 classes for pre-req so I still have a way to go! :zzzzz

I guess instead of justangi you could call me justwaiting :) I should start the program in May. I busted my butt to get what I could out of the way first, so this semester it's just PSY for me. I could use the break anyway after those A&P and math classes! Good luck to everyone!!

I am finishing up my last three prereqs this semester, micro, human lifespan, and ethics. I have applied for Fall '03, and HOPING to get in.

Pitiful that I feel so much better now reading this. I still am dying here waiting. I am going to find something to do productive while I am waiting. I just have to figure out what, lol. I want to use this time wisely and try and prepare as much as possible for starting the nursing program. So glad to not be waiting by myself.

I'm waiting for grades to be posted so I can get my transcript to apply to the nursing program...hopefully I'll be able to do that by the 15th; if acceped, the program starts in May; so I'll be waiting for that acceptance letter next. In the meantime, I'm taking Micro and Sociology this semester, and then the final prereq will be a Humanties class...which I can take online.

I am taking Chemistry and Sociology. We had our first class today and I know it is going to be great. The nursing program will not be accepting applications until the beginning of February, so I am taking this time to brush up on my Algebra to take the required NET test. Hopefully I will begin the program this August..

Hey everyone!! I hope you all have a great semester. I will be taking Microbiology, Chemistry, Developmental Psych and to save the best for last Interpersonal Comm. Good Luck to everyone

Well, I'm waiting to start my preqs. Since before the holidays I have begun investigating a career change from the Telecom R&D industry into nursing. I found with my prior BSEE that I could qualify to get into an accelerated BSN program. I just need to do all the biology preqs (AP I & II, Micro, Chem, Bioethics).

I don't have much experience being in a hospital, so my plan is to first volunteer at a local hospital. If all goes well, I hope to become a CNA so I can make a little money  and so I won't be so freaked when I start clinicals :uhoh21: . During the summer I plan to take the ethics course, then in the fall AP I and Chem. In the spring AP II and Micro. Then, after I have gotten all my A's :) I will be going into 14 months of hell!

Patience :)

At 36, I'm starting my prereqs in my first semester of college EVER in a couple weeks. :) Psych, Nutrition, Intro Bio (w/lab), and English. I haven't taken class notes, quizzes, tests, or done any of those other school things since high school almost 19 years ago! So here's to hoping old habits return quickly. :)

Hi everyone :) been awhile since I last posted.

All of the schools in my area have different prerequisites

I finished them for one school and was able to put in my first aplication for ADN :) :) :) and will get an answer in april for the fall 2003 class.

FWIW, the cut off for this class required a min of 3.25 gpa overall for the prerequisites and I have a 3.50.

I was told that last year there were 120 qualified applicants, 60 were accepted as that was all of the room they had, and 32 actually graduated.

I am taking Micro and A&P II this semester.

Last of all, my A&P professor recommended me to the "honors" program and offered to work with me so that A&PII will be an honors class (extra project).

I am excited :)
